Can someone with an early FJ40 with the under seat tool box tell me if there was any rubber pieces that went over the edge of the box to prevent rattling? The lid itself has the rubber around it on the inside, but I recently saw a picture of a truck on E-Bay that had some rubber pieces on the tool box. See pic...

OEM or PO mod? Seems to not be Toyota's style but who knows...

75233-90300 was the last serviced part number by Toyota for that 'packing' shown in the picture.

That's what I was thinking. The lid looks to be designed to 'lay flat'. Wonder if his rubber was missing inside...?

Eventually, mine fell off. I know you're not a fan of my replacement mods from previous threads ( I cut up a bicycle tube to use as a hard top dampening rubber ), but I glued a vacuum cleaner belt to my lid. Works great and no one ever sees it.

The EPC I have only shows the packing in the lid and has it listed for 69/03 to 72/09.

(2) 75273 Tool Lid side packing pieces
(2) 75272 Tool Lid front/rear pieces

So what year is the part number you listed for?

The reason for the 69/03 date is because that all the further back Toyota goes with their part numbers. The part number should go back for as long as Toyota had the square tool box. After 72/09 the tool box was gone. 1964 is when the square tool box started, before that date the tool box had a ngle. That style had rubber plugs on the top of the box. The rubber strips are nothing special. the plugs for the early tool box is harder to match.

OK just so I's not cornfuzacated... ;)

The part number Poser posted is for a box older than 69/03.

The owner of the box pictured above has the wrong rubber parts installed for that year/style (Truck is listed as a 1972 FJ40)

I have nothing to worry about as my 1971 has the thick rubber strips in the lid(which are still attached and in good shape.)

Apparently I messed something up in my previous post, as only a portion of the info went into it for some reason, and the picture I tried to attach did not stick...

75273/75272 are what Toyota calls a 'product code/s'.

The last service part number for product code 75273, Packing, Tool Box Door, No.2 was 75234-90300

The last sevice part number for product code 75272, Packing, Tool Box Door, No.1 was 75233-90300

These packings are attached to the lid of the tool box, not to the base edges of the tool box.

Toyota does not advertise that they provide product support for vehicles manufactured prior to 03/69. However, if you have a part number, or, a VIN number and a good, persistent parts contact within your Toyota dealer, the regional distribution centers have the ability to look up/find old part numbers and get you the pieces that are still serviced, ie. individual wiper motors for the pre-1968 trucks, the tail lamp assembly and tail lamp assembly lenses for the 1964-1967 trucks, which are not the same as 1968-08/73, or 1958-1693, as was posted out here in the ‘parts thread’ that Troll started, etc.
