so that pretty much sums it up.
only real tech to add.
heater core flows opposite direction, pay attention to the plumbing.
motor mounts and engine height. measure 97 times, fit EVERYTHING. then weld. we got lucky with the shroud fitting.
heater hoses. do them with the motor on the stand during fitting. its tight to the firewall.
exhaust. we were lucky enough to pick up a couple mandrel 180* from Allin Specialties on Lars in medford.
tach is plug and play. (for distributer models) unpin old wire at dash, plug in the wire from new harness. it uses the same terminal.
power steering. plug and play. the RE high pressure line bolts up to the RZ pump. this also deletes the idle pressure up valve.
alternator. swap the 3 wire plug. the wire colors are the same.
reverse lamp switch. we used the one from the W59. direct swap for the W56.
4wd light. we used a 2wd harness and just deleted it. it would be very simple to add.
oxygen sensor. we used the same bypass as on my build to trick the ECU to ignore the rear o2 sensor.
wiring. for this swap it was a total of 18 wires. 21 if you count the alternator splices. i know i said i was going to post a key, but have since decided against it. Trade Secrets. so you can: A: buy them or B: pay me to build yours.
also the chassis harness we started with was an 85-86 EFI 4runner.
the wiring nightmare would be totally different if you start with a carbed rig.
with the EFI harness, the EFI and COR relays are already there. as well has the CEL and HP fuel system.
