todd's stinking blue pile

so the other bit of hassle tonite is that one of the slave cylinder bolts broke off in the bellhousing. i tried vise grips. then tried welding a nut to the stud, actually tried three times. bolt was too corroded and broke off flush. anyway to save some time i have another bellhousing in storage for tomorrow.

i guess a bit of tech is that the w56 and similar trans will bolt right up to the 3rz using the 3RZ/w59 bellhousing.

tomorrow we hope to get the motor mounts mocked up and burnt in.

progress was of course slower than anticipated.
last night we got the bell swapped.
got the motor fit
got mounts cut down and tacked in.
swapped the oil switch for a oil pressure sender
figured out the heater hose and valve situation. (swapped to a 89-95 style)

swapped the sender
1. showing the two parts. pressure sender on left. stock t100 idiot lite switch on right. notice the galley in background.
2. same showing connectors. we will use a female spade to connect to the old sender.
3. pressure sender installed, you can see the old pigtail hanging there

more progress this week
the fuel lines. . .what a fxxxo.(my own undoing)

so first pic is of the stock taco filter to banjo line. we decided to move the filter from the terribly inconvenient place it came from the factory. under the plenum.
the stock line wouldnt fly. so i made a call to my buddy in wheeler parts looking for a longer double banjo hose. which led us to the junkyard as factory pieces are over 200$ for a 2ft hose. long story short we picked up the next hose off a tercel. the ideal corolla wasnt there.
i bent a 90* on the one end and routed across the back of the head.

so the high pressure hardline from the tank needed some massaging. . .i ended up in typical fashion tweaking it too much. compromised the line and had to take the one out of the t100 and rebend to fit the mini. so like 4 hours later 75 trips under the truck and back i got the "new" hardline fixed up.

the heater plumbing is more or less done. we have one hose not fitting well that will get swapped otherwise looks something like these pics.
so in the first pic, the hose from the back of the head to the heater valve is the one getting changed. its a bit too short and putting the valve linkage in a bad way.
the other bit of tech here is that the valve is from a 3rd gen (89-95) truck. the stock 85 was rubbing the EGR stuff pretty good.
other wise it plumbed up pretty easy.

we had to run a battery cable from the stock 85 battery position to the starter, now on the driver side. we used a cable i had left from one of the 5VZ harnesses i had lying around. routed around the back side of the motor between the oil pan and bell. captured it with some 1/2" clamps.

i had to strip the harness back on the DS fender and hide all the mumbo jumbo no longer used.

3RZ fan and clutch, this is still a 2 core radiator.

the new clutch lines

had to slot the holes in the throttle cable bracket to be able to get WOT.

showing basically what the intake is going to look like.

showing the ignitors new home

we were able to capture the harness with the factory clips for a clean look.

we used the stock 3RZ upper radiator hose unmodified. the stock 3RZ lower hose was used as well, but trimmed a bit on both ends to keep it clear of the steering shaft, steering lines and alternator.

swapped the plug on the 85 harness to match the 3RZ alternator..

so we are almost done. . . . . . . . . .

more importantly.. . . .. . . . .. ... ..

it runs!!!!!!!!

got to fire it off tonite about an hour or so ago.
only hickup was the fxxxing high pressure fuel union at the tank. the CEL was on too since neither O2 or the IAT sensors were hooked up.
we were running open header.

so we are down to the intake, exhaust and nit picky nickel dime s***.
