Howdy all!

Should I take my steps off? I have 3 little kids but I think I might dig the steps off instead.

First day in the rough, and you will probably damage them anyway. I would remove them (I removed mine, it’s fine so far). The handles come handy unless your children are really young.

What’s the best bang for your buck in that regard? Not looking to break the bank.
@Ramathorn15 was working on a cool offering. Not sure if that's ready yet. Slee has a great offering, but it's $1000+. The cheaper stuff tends to lack a big step, but maybe another community vendor has an offering.

My 4 yo wouldn't be able to get in and out without steps, so I'm a big fan.

Same here. Looking for something subtle and also need steps for the kiddos (also have a 4-year-old)!

Yea remove. The ugliest thing I see on these forums is guys with steel bumpers and still have the running boards on. Looks sooo ugly I’m sorry

I never understood how "slider steps" were substitutes for the original. Don't sliders sit up tight, leaving little room for your foot and not much advantage over just stepping in the car? I don't see how someone who needs the step (such as a little kid or an older person) would actually be able to use a slider as a step.

Yes, sliders sit up tight.

Step sliders are the "flat" version.

You can add diamond plates to make it a partial or fully covered step. I have a picture in my media gallery of mine.

I can grab a picture of my daughter using it, but trust me it's very useful. Slider Steps (the Slee ones at least) are higher and tighter than the running boards, but there's still plenty of useable step space - especially if we're talking about a 4 year old's feet. ;)

There's an important distinction between "sliders" and "slider steps". One is very high and tight. The other may still be high, but has a functional step for adults and kids alike.

Also worth noting, sliders are about one primary thing: protecting against body damage. I would love a set of sliders that were almost as low as the stock running boards. I don't mind dragging armor on trails and a lower step would be even more useful in day to day kid-loading. Trail contact on steel tubing is fine. Damaged rocker sills and doors are not. I do a tough trail once or twice per year. I take my kid(s) places in the LX almost every day. I'd gladly trade a little reduction in my current breakover clearance for some added parking lot function, but I'm probably in the minority there.

Here is a different approach. Great as steps but tucked up out of the way when not in use -- they take advantage of the additional clearance. They ain't sliders and would be rock-sensitive!! For my ancient age and condition, travel preferences and grandchildren, they are perfect. I have these steps on the LC200, not on the LC100.

I took my steps off. However, I soon regretted it when it came to my short legged friends having difficulty getting into the car. Since driving them is rare, I kept them off since I feel the LC looks better with the steps off.

My 3 year old uses White Knuckle Sliders at 15 degrees to climb in just fine. I do have the rear with diamond plate just for this.
Same! My 4-year-old can climb in just fine. I still have to lift my 2-year-old in though.
