I believe plastic debris has entered my key ignition and I am unable to insert the key all the way. The ignition is also stuck in the acc position. Trying normal methods to remove the cylinder has been unsuccessful as I am unable to properly insert the key and pull it out. I would like to not pay hundreds of dollars more on a part that I can fix myself for $200. As I believe I need to get new keys, ignition can shaft and cylinder. As opposed to towing it to the nearest dealership. Any tips or methods to remove the ignition?

try compressed air? you can drill out the bolts under the steering column and remove the whole ignition unit as a last resort.

I just did this whole job and it was a PITA because of the security bolts that hold the ignition. Just to confirm...

You are trying to get out this:

And you really do not want to remove this:
