@cj007sd
Hi again! You are correct sir,I am not from the US of A but I was trained here. First attached to a Marine Unit and then sent to Brown Water in Coronado. From there you know the drill. Im old now lol and my last hoorah! was in San Pedro Sula Honduras. I was a green badger (DEA intelligence) until the collapse of the US budget. First furloughed and later done. Tried to send a pm on this but like I sated on email I cant figure this forum out.
Lets get to the good stuff!
I strongly recommend the Gamiviti mount

I like it a lot, the mistake I made was not telling the installer of the snorkel that I wanted to use the antenna cable. He cut it and I had the stereo people try and connect the cable of the new one to the the power antenna relay (not sure exactly where) that sits behind the glove box.

Well it kinda works when Im in the city, not sure what to blame. The connection or the short crappy and cheap antenna I bought from Autozone in a rush to try the mount.
My next step is to have the antenna cable connected to a an extension and plugged directly to the head unit. I havent cared much bc currently Im streaming from my phone to the head unit whatever i want. But I know not to rely on it.
My personal opinion on mounting high and dry is the same as the Five "S" principles of camouflage: In this case im concerned with silhouette: Having it sticking so high outside the shape of the car may be an issue while on a trail=break the damn thing. But thats just an opinion. Using the mount I bought you can go pretty long and still be within the roofline plus it sits abit inside the fender and you can see it from the drivers seat. YMMV Of course you could buy a spring mounted unit.
I would still stick to the rule that you always walk 5 to 10ft off crest peak lol
HEY! I just remembered: about the inmate comment.
No sir im not or was ever lol. Its a comment made bc this forum=asylum (we are crazy to keep dropping $ on the LC when its a great tool the way it was designed ) and users are the inmates of the asylum. Thats all.
Cheers mate lol
Ill post my results but please post your too bc chances are youll have a better solution.
