I'm curious, do the instructions specify feet forward mounting only? (it doesn't look like there are additional forward supports for feet down mounting)

well, if the Seller is as good as it seems so far and with a good price, this is how a GB is meant to be... nice!

Glad to see Duncan is doing good business through this!

UPDATE: The mods have been more than cool, allowing us to host a group buy for an item that is non-100 specific. I talked to the powers that be today and we agreed to move it out to the Winching and Recovery section so that everyone can have an opportunity to take a look at it. I'll be on it like a hawk trying to address any questions that pop up but I think it's time of hogging a page 1 spot on the 100 Section has run it's course.

..and Bamabrock, Android FTW!!!

The winch can be mounted anyway necessary. The ARB 03+ bumper for the 100-Series requires the winch to be mounted feet forward. It's the only option if you want a winch in that bumper.

There is no issue with the Titan, you can mount the winch feet forward right out of the box and it will work perfectly. However the clutch handle will be facing rearward, and not the most ideal location to reach from the top of the bumper. So to resolve that issue you can remove the gearbox on the Titan and "clock" or rotate it, so the clutch handle is again facing straight up as if the winch was mounted feet down.

This "clocking" issue is universal with any winch, including Warn and others. In fact the instructions that come with the ARB bumper instruct you to clock the winch gear box on your Warn to resolve the clutch handle angle.

For reference. My winch shipped on 10/6/2011. From Ontario to Seattle WA, and it took 6 calendar days (4 business) to reach me via FEDEX Ground. Total shipping costs, $108 USD. ZERO hassle, delays, or fees for the winch passing through customs.

Can you post some pics of the unboxing when you get to it?

Too late, the contents of the box are already spread all over my living room... :D

I will take some product photos before install, however they are identical to the ones you posted last from Duncan.

That is not the main issue. Some of the more powerful winches cannot be mounted feet down because the body near the bolt holes would be undergoing shear (not good) vs being in compression (much better) if mounted feet forward. As in the winch body will tear itself apart if mounted feet down without forward compressive support. Which is why some winches' instructions specify feet forward only , or they may be built with provisions for additional support up front.

Paul, thanks for setting this up!!!

Also, i did not need the tires deflators as i have an ARB one, so he let me use some of that credit to apply towards the tree saver strap they carry. Unless you feel like wrapping a recovery strap 20 times around a tree, you need a tree strap!

Cool...Putting you on the "commit to buy" list. We expect a detailed review after it's been trail tested by an 80s owner. You guys sure know how to beat the hell outta stuff.

I was planning on using one of my Ambercrombie & Fitch web belts from back in college.

Happy Holidays - received mine today. This winch is a beast!

Getting ready to order. I'm trying to find which of my cards wont charge a "Foreign Transaction Fee"

Here is what I have found so far.

Visa Debit Card = 1.0%
Discovercard = 2.0%
Amex = 2.7%
Paypal = 3.9% (charged to the seller, I have not asked Duncan if he even accepts PayPal)
Mastercard = 4.0%

At first glance I'm not seeing an easy way to clock the gearbox on this winch.

is there a 24volt version?

Duncan says that if there is a great enough demand for a 24v version, he will have them shipped.

At first glance I'm not seeing an easy way to clock the gearbox on this winch.

How to clock the gearbox: (NOTE: change made to step #7)

1. Engage handle to freespool.
2. Set winch upright on motor end.
3. Remove 2 allen bolts from tie bar gear box end.
4. Remove gear box by lifting up from tie bars.
5. 10 black machine screws will be seen on the foot housing.
6. Remove the ten machine screws that hold the foot housing to the gear box housing.
7. Turn foot housing 108 degrees (you can't rotate it exactly 90) from bottom so handle faces upright and very slightly forward when installed feet forward.
8. Make sure rubber gasket machine screw holes are lined up for the 10 machine screws to go through and hold gasket in place for correct seal.
9. Install machine screws working on opposite sides to secure foot mount level to gear housing. (similar to tightening lug nuts on wheel)
10. Make sure gear box drive shaft is set in brake. (in the opposite end of drum by motor)
11. Position gear box back over shaft and turn until shaft engages onto sun gear. (this can be seen as the base plate will line up and touch the tie rod)
12. Tighten allen bolt through foot housing onto tie rod ends.

It sounds like a lot more work than it actually is.

It's not hard, if you feel overwhelmed call Duncan, he's very helpful on the phone. He walked me through it.

Talked to Duncan today and my order's been filled and hopefully ships tomorrow...I'll get you a detailed review :hhmm: been itching on getting one of these in prep for some snow runs this year. Have to admit was not expecting to get a 12k lbs monster, but right place right time.. Did not see the total weight of this winch :confused: I'm toying with the idea of hitch receiver type mounting. Drawback would be that the hitch receivers are usually about / around 9K lbs limits. I'm having my front bumper fab by RADesigns with a receiver built into it. With new toys I plan on using them.

Got to keep it short when you talk to Duncan or you'll end up buying other toys...was inquiring about the max air compressor and next thing I know, bam!! I was adding it to the order. Could not resist the deal, since I was going to pick up a back-up compressor from HarbFrieght, :hillbilly: for a few $ more, I got the max air + some goodies. This one will get a lot of use, will report / inform of its performance / if it lives up to its specs.
