It's an odd size. I need to remeasure.

Pricing good till Oct 20th - Get your orders in!!!

Wow....a winch was not the next item on my wish list but this is very tempting..... This will force me to buy the ARB bar sooner than I wanted to!

Might want to get the winch and set it aside till you get the bumper. No sure how long they will be at the group buy price.

Well, technically, if the rollers have never been used with steel cable then the rollers should be just fine with synthetic since no burrs or rough edges have been formed.
Besides, I can not find Delrin rollers in that size.

Titan sells them here:

Titan Offroad Recovery Gear - DELRIN ROLLER FAIRLEAD (Powered by CubeCart)

Does this model not fit your sahara bar?

P.S. Packed your stuff up tonight and will ship on Monday.

I asked to buy that when I bought my winch. They told me they were out of stock and wouldn't be getting them in anymore. I guess they may have and ned to call. Thanks for showing that to me.
Sweet,I'll get your's out Monday.

Hey guys, just want to at my .02, Duncan has been a great friend of mine for a few years and he is a great guy to deal with, very helpful and will answer any questions or give opinions on may of the products that he carries or that he competes with.
He has taken lots of time to tear apart his winches to find flaws and room for improvement in order to be able to offer a great product that will not only last but be able to come out above the competitors at a great price.

Another great line of products that he offers are his Everlast welders and plasma cutters which he takes the same amount of time to ensure that quality is put into every part of his product.

He actually physically tests every unit before shipping them out to customers, you guys will not be disappointed.

Titan TW12 vs. Warn m12000 (solenoid)

I have been reading up on component and assembly architecture for products competing with the TW-12 and I came across a something that caught my interest.

I found a thread by crusinGA (https://forum.ih8mud.com/winching-recovery/252964-source-warn-solenoids-part-nos.html), that shows the solenoid of the Warn m12000 (Part 28396):

For reference, scale and comparison, here are some pics from https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/492334-bbq-boys-smokin-build-thread.html of the Titan (Thompson) solenoid:

The Titan (Thompson) solenoid appears to be less complex and more robust. Note: BBQ is "wallerin'" out a larger hole for a mod where he ran his female remote connector into the kick panel on the driver's side of the cabin!

Man, thanks for all of your legwork Paul! You've really helped put together both a great value for MUD members as well as an informative post.

So with looking and how the mounting tabs are molded into the base, what is recommended for a mounting solution inside the engine bay? I guess I had assumed it would have screw tabs that stuck out the side.

Sorry I missed this. I would assume you could just drill holes into the molded portion of the solenoid box that comes out in an L-shape. That would keep you from having to drill through the box itself and maintain all water resistance built into the unit. You might want to ask Brock or BBQ how They did it.

Very tempting... Anyone actually installed one in the 03+ ARB combo bumper? How long is the offer good for?

Again, the Titan winch will install in any bumper designed for a Warn M8000 which includes the 03+ ARB.

I have a 03+ ARB Bull Bar bumper on my 04 LC and a Titan TW12 on the way. Will take LOTS of pictures during the install.

School me on the advantage of rollers with a poly line. I thought poly had a low enough friction coefficient and was deformable enough to allow it to be used with a smooth mouth aluminum fairlead.

I always thought it was more for people that already had roller fairlead and swapped out rollers for the Delrin versions since you should never use the metal ones for steel cable first and then synthetic.

They might be best over a long period especially with a lot of use since there is less friction with rolling guides than a polished surface.....I guess it all depends. Longer life but chance of pinching rope in corners....or shorter life with no significant failures on long pulls from line getting caught in corners.

I always said I would go Hawse...

Placing order tomorrow since apparently those Canadians needed a day off today, sheesh.

Good news, just tracked my TW12 shipment and the winch cleared customers after only one day and is in the states headed my way. They updated the delivery time as Thursday now instead of the original Friday.

NO call from customs, no hassle, no extra fees, just slid right through.

I use a Uhmw hawse fairlead with my amsteel line. I haven't had a problem with it.

Pricing good till Oct 20th - Get your orders in!!!

OK gentlemen, talked to Duncan today and was informed that this group buy pricing is effective until Oct. 20th. That gives everyone enough time to bring flowers home to wife, take her dancing and then try to get a winch installed on the 28th without her noticing. I suggest that those among us who have exceeded their allowances for the quarter, purchase and install the winch and tuck the line lead behind the fairhead thus giving the appearance of only having purchased said fairhead. Other approved conciliatory measures involve strategically installed front license plates and those white oval things that say HHI, SGI, CP, etc. Desperate times call for desperate measures so don't feel like any of us are going to pull your man card if we catch you with a couple of strips of duct tape on the front of your ARB. Just remember to take it off before meeting up with us before the next weekend's run.

On a more informatory and tech-related note, I have noticed that those who have already ordered their winches also happened to do their homework on prices for top-tier recovery gear. I hear people are tacking on all sorts of goodies!

In order to assist those not in the know here is a little about Titan's recovery gear (that you can throw on the order since the added weight is not going to greatly affect your shipping rates):

Deluxe Tree Saver strap - Duncan recommends having a minimum of 20-25K lb rating with a decent width as to better spread the load around the tree. Titan's are 4" wide by 9'-0" and have a tough double layer construction throughout their entire length with an additional hard wearing sleeve for the loops. Minimal fabric stretch (2-3%).

D-Ring Shackles - Recommendation is for a minimum of 2. Most common size world-wide and the size that Titan carries is 3/4" with a W.L.L. 4 3/4 T (9500 lb.)

shackles.JPG

Snatch Block (Pulley Block) - This is not technically a "must have" until you "don't have" when you "should have". All games aside, Duncan does recommend this item as it opens up your options when your anchor points are limited. Titan carries an 18,000 lb greaseable snatch block with grease nipple and storage bag. Note: These things cause the winch to operate at a 5-15% efficiency loss so keep them clean and well greased.

Thats all for now. I will most more information as it becomes available.

Think he would be okay with ditching the tire deflators and using that price difference towards the purchase of the tree saver strap?!?

Give Duncan a call, he was very accommodating in getting the accessories I needed with my order. I already had tire deflators.

Anyone else get charged an international service fee on their credit card? My bank says that it is a Visa policy to charge for this. Seems ridiculous. $25 for what?
