My 33X 9.5 X 15 BFG MTs are on their last legs...I'm running a 4 inch lift, and would really not have to cut my rear openings, so I think I can run a 10.5" tire...I do quite a bit of road driving but need something decent off road...I run Blizzaks in the winter, so snow is not an issue...any thoughts as to a replacements tire? BFG KM? KM2? Toyo open MT?

Thoughts?

I run a 4" lift with 33x12.50s and have 0 rub with uncut quarters. Personally, I would go with the BFG KM2s since you see a lot of pavement.

FF, what rims and backspacing are you running?

They're custom. Someone (way before me) welded the centers into a different wheel. The wheels are 8" wide with a 3" back space.

Looking for mud's again ? if so look at the cooper's sst, if you want a AT then i am running the Toyo open country AT and they seem to do good off road and wear good on the street as well ...

x2 on the open country's. They wear well on the street and are great off road. My next set will probably be the same. I'm running the 35/13.50's. I also air them down to 7psi + - for the trail.

when I look at your rears, unless they tuck into the wheel well in the arc the rear end would take, mine would rub when I flex...

do yours tuck in, or do you not flex enough to make contact?

P.S. that's a nice 40 you have there : )

x 3 on the Toyo Open Country AT for a great mixed use tire. Mine is a DD and they are nice and quiet on the road. As a weekend warrior the Open Countrys are great on rocks, sand and in water. I find them "ok" in mud so in June when the rainy season comes back here I'll be looking at the Open Country MT v. a set of Creepy Crawlers. Good luck.

I'm running BFG MTs now, and don't mind the noise or how they handle...

the Toyo AT vs MT....I'd rather give up some highway driveability and gain some off road capability....

is it safe to say the MT is still ok on the road, but a better tire off road?

I have the KM2's and I LOVE THEM!!! I am very surprised how smooth and quiet they are. Honestly I think My BFG A/T's were louder.

Yes, I'd say so. I ran a set of Open Country AT on my FJ Cruiser for more than 60,000 miles then replaced them with Open Country MT. As you might expect, the MT give better traction off-road when aired down but have a distinct whine on the highway. The AT were silent on the highway. The MT need to be aired way down, the sidewalls are stiff. Highway handling with both is great.
