Any body knows how much taller/shorter a 255/85/16 compared to a 35" tire ?

I know the 255 are skinny I just want to know how the height difference is between the two..

Thanks..

MaNu,
I just put a set of 255/85 R16 BFG KM2s on my truck. BFG lists them as 33.3". BFG lists the the 315/75 R16 as 34.8". If you go with a 17" rim, then they have it in 35x12.5R17, also spec-ed at 34.8".

Pic of the truck with said skinnies, with a M101 CDN on skinnies, too, thrown in for good measure:

thanks for the info.. so they are 33.3.. I like the 35" height but not the 12.5 width..
What kind of lift do you have in that rig? 2.5" or 4" ?
Ahh I see your sig line says it...

Hey,

Here is a link to an online tire size converter

Tire Conversion Chart

It says your 255/85/16 will be like a 33x10 inch tire. A 325/65/18 is close to a 35x12.5

Thanks for the linky dude..
I'll see how that thing seats once on the frame and then go from there...

Not many tall skinny radials available in USA. Only one that comes to mind is Swamper SSR's 35x10.5 If your willing to run bias then a few more choices out there. Most are swampers of some sort.

Personally I wish someone would make a 36x11.5r16 radial MT tire.

They make 'em. Just not for 16" wheels. The 285x75x18 is really close to that. Is it possible that manufacturers dont make that size as it would be too unstable without an 18" wheel? ie unstable aspect ratio?

Just did a quick lookup on tirerack.com...Goodyear Wrangler MTR in this size is 35" tall, 11.3" wide...that's pretty close to a tall/skinny by anybody's standards! Cool find!

Looks good greentruck! I like those steels!

Pete,
Thanks! The Toyota part# is 42601-60361. Don't know if they're still available. When I got mine, CDan said they were the last 4 in the country, but maybe they are still shipping them according to demand?

I've since found out that both CDan and beno run these wheels. Must be good stuff.;)

They weren't really cheaper than alloy and twice the weight, but they are virtually bulletproof. And they do look great. :D

These are readily available. Though will probably have to come from Japan. Mine took 4 weeks almost to the day to get here via JAL.

:)

beno,
That's good to know. Eventually I'd like to get the truck spare and both the trailer tires on the same rims-- next time I get the spare change.:D
