I searched but didn’t see if it was discussed before...

There is a difference in the load limits of the factory tires/pressures between the LX570 and the LC200. I noticed when looking through gaijin’s excellent explanation of how to use the load tables. For example, in the case of LT275/65R18 tires, this leads to a significant 5psi difference in the RCTIP between the two.

If anything I would have expected the (heavier I think) LX to use the higher pressures required for more load carrying capacity, but it it the LC.

Thoughts?

LC200:
The OEM P285/60R18 tires at the factory recommended inflation pressure of 33psi have a Load Limit of 2,512 pounds. Since these are a P-Metric tire used on a Light Truck, the Load Limit has been inflated by 10% (industry convention) - the "raw" required Load Limit is, therefore, 2,512/1.1 = 2,286 pounds.

At 45psi, the LT275/65R18 tires have a Load Limit of 2,310 pounds. This Load Limit does not need to be adjusted as it is a Light Truck tire used on a Light Truck. Yes, the 2,310 pound Load Limit at 45psi is slightly above the minimum required 2,286 pounds, but 45psi is the nearest whole psi number that meets or exceeds the minumum required.

LX570:

That's about it. The LX570 comes stock with P285/50R20 tires which have a Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure of 33psi. On the tables, this is a Load Limit of 2315 lbs.

Divide 2315 by 1.1 and you get the adjusted Load Limit for LT-Metric tires (2315 / 1.1 = 2105 lbs).

Now all you have to do is look in the tables for your LT-Metric size and find the pressure that yields >2105 lbs.

Hi gaijin,

Could I get the RCTIP for the new Toyo Open County AT III in LT275/65R18 123S E1?

Tires will be mounted on a ‘13 LX570 and a ‘14 LC200.

Thanks for the service you provide this community. Very much appreciated!

My pleasure - very well structured question, sir! 👍

The RCTIP for the LT275/65R18 123/120S Load Range E Toyo Open Country AT III on your 2013 LX570 is 40psi F/R.

The RCTIP for the LT275/65R18 123/120S Load Range E Toyo Open Country AT III on your 2014 LC200 is 45psi F/R.

Gaijin, why the difference in tire pressure 40 vs 45 for LX vs LC? (your post #643 above)

You'll have to ask Mr. Toyoda why they engineered different suspension systems for the LC and LX. All I can tell you is different suspensions require different pressures. The LX570 suspension system is designed for best performance with one Tire Load Limit, and the LC200 suspension system is designed for best performance with a different Tire Load Limit. Different Load Limits dictate different pressures.

Did my first tire rotation and I'm noticing some outer tire wear after 6k miles on my front tires compared to the rear, curious if I have the right pressure.

2016 LC - 285/70/17 BFG KO2s, Load rang C mounted on Evo Corse DAKARZERO 17x8 ET40

Thanks,

1. Here's the response I wanted to write:

Hey Chris, I'm curious as well. What pressure are you running? Hard to tell if it's the right pressure without knowing what it is. And oh, by the way, BFG doesn't make an ISO-Metric 285/70/17 tire.

2. But, bearing in mind the most probably diminished sense of humor extant on the forum in light of current events, here's the more considered response:

Chris,

The RCTIP for the LT285/70R17 KO2 tires on your 2016 LC200 is 40psi F/R.

Also, please note that wear on only the outer edge of your front tires is most probably NOT due to inflation pressure - more likely due to a positive camber issue due to some change in stock suspension geometry because of a lift, aftermarket parts, or just in need of an alignment. Underinflation would show increased wear on both inner and outer edges, while overinflation would show wear on the center tread area. It could also be due to excessive Toe-in, but in that case there would be a pronounced feathering of the worn edge - this is also an alignment issue.

@gaijin Got a set of Falken AT3W LT275/70 R18 125S E1 and was set at 42psi. Just got an alignment and they set tire pressure to 50psi.?! What is the RCTIP on a LC200? Arigatuo!

We had bad roads here in Lebanon ( lots of potholes). 42 psi would be way too harsh.

i run 33 psi and running 285 60 18 BF Goodrich AT KO 2.
I tried higher 38 psi and 36 psi ride was harsh.

The RCTIP for the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W LT275/70R18 125/122S Load Range E tires on your LC200 is 41psi F/R. Doo itashimashite!

I know you didn't ask, but... for anyone else who may be interested:

BF Goodrich does not make an ISO-Metric "285 60 18" All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire.

The RCTIP for the LT-Metric LT285/60R18 Load Range D 118/115S All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire on your LC200 is 46psi F/R.

NOTE: It is unsafe to run ANY LT-Metric tire on-road at less than 35psi. This can lead to excessive temperature build-up and premature/catastrophic failure.
