@gaijin or should we call you sensei?

Could you let me know what the proper RCTIP is for Nitto Ridge Grapplers in LT285 /75 R17 121Q E1 BSW on a 2013 Land Cruiser? Thank you sir!

Still a kohai doing my best to follow the way...

08 - KO2 Load C - 285/70-17

thank you in advance!

Come on, haven't you read any of this thread?

Are you going to make me ask 20 questions?

I need more info - I'll let you guess what that is since I've already invested more time in this response than you did in your question.

:bang:

Oops...my bad.

BFG KO2 LT285/70-17 116/113S Load Range C BSW on a 2008

Soooooooooo close, but no cigar.

I'll give you a hint: LC200 or LX570?

😣 Doh! Cruiser

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a winner!!!!!!

The RCTIP for those LT285/70R17 tires on your LC200 is 40psi F/R.

Now, want to feel a little silly? The answer has been in my signature all along - kind of like hiding in plain sight...

And now we resume our regularly scheduled programming.

Be safe, everyone - we're almost there.

You sir are a good man! I was posting on my phone so I didn’t see your signature. Thank you for hanging in there with me! 🍻🍻🍻

To be fair he asked for 116 load, your sig has 121 load. Not that it couldn’t be the same pressure . . . I curious how an lt can only be 116 load, normally I see that in sl or xl.

Let's unpack this one step at a time:

1. For the same size LT-Metric tire, it makes no difference what the Load Index is - RCTIP remains the same. LT285/70R17 116/113S Load Range C tires have the same RCTIP as LT285/70R17 121/118R Load Range E tires.

2. His tires are 116 Load Index because they are Load Range C. My tires are 121 Load Index because they are Load Range E.

3. SL or XL designations are only pertinent in determining RCTIP for ISO-Metric tires. LT-Metric tires do not have SL or XL ratings.

P.S. I'm always fair ;)

Sensei,

@gaijin, what's the best way to account for all the extra "mod weight"? I can try to spec out the individual items (rack, LRA tank, and about to add 250# of bumpers).
What threshold would you personally recalculate for? Every 500lbs? 1,000lbs?

Also, does your calculation account for the extra weight of the tires themselves? i.e. the additional weight between stock tire and the LT305/70/18s?
Just curious, and thanks!

My tire pressure recommendations are good up to the GVWR of your vehicle. If you decide to mod over the GVWR, you're on your own.

The weight of the tires are immaterial to the RCTIP.

Apologies, but I was confused about some terminology. I was under the impression that you were calculating on gross vehicle weight, and additional weight affected the RCTIP. However, I now see that GVWR is the vehicle itself plus the maximum allowable payload. So additional weight (mods) doesn't come into play so long as I don't go over GVWR.

This might be a silly question: Does a 1,000lb swing (6,300 empty rig to 7,300lbs family + mods) affect the amount of force on the tires and change the contact patch with the ground? Or the suspension keeps things in proper order?

I assume you mean the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac LT295/65R18 127P Load Range E tire.

If so, the RCTIP for the LT295/65R18 tires on your LC200 is 39psi F/R.
