All-

I need to replace my muffler, between the tail pipe and rear cat. OEM has a rubber mount- a retangular thing with a threaded bolt on the top and bottom- and the one on there is completely destroyed. Dealer wants almost $30 for the mount and not sure when he can get it. I need to get this job done by Weds.

I am curious how others have handled this- just used an Aftermarket hanger from a place like Autozone?

I used the weld on belt style mounts when I moved the tailpipe. :meh:

The 80 exhaust does not 'hang' as such, it 'sits' on the rubbers, most I have seen have been welded at the rearmost mount.

As a temp fix by all means use anything to take the strain.

Regards

Dave .

If I recall there is aftermarket OEM parts for cheap, but don't last long.

I bought my oem ones on amayama. Took a month to get, but were cheap.

partsgeek.com carries the stock style mounts for cheap, but then you still need to pay shipping. I just used a wad of bailing wire, still holding up OK

:edit: also try your local muffler shop. The meineke by my house was able to locate the stock style mounts in about a day--not sure if they keep them in a warehouse nearby or have some other source.

I got 'identical' versions for IIRC a Renault? I cannot remember how long they lasted, it is in my thread (link in sig), but way back around five years now?
