1. How much should I expect to pay to have my mechanic retrofit OEM lockers to my 97?

2. The back of my passenger seat wiggles when there is nobody sitting in it. How to I tighten it?

3. Hanna or Slee sliders? Why?

Thanks and Happy New Year,

TT

PS- I searched, I swear.

electric lockers

Hi,

Take a look at the FAQ posting at the top of the forum. The last link is about retrofitting electric lockers.

I'm not sure on the other two items but try searching.

Happy New Year,

Powell

If you are serious about retrofitting factory lockers look for complete axles from a wrecked truck. Otherwise it is just too costly and labor intensive if you can't do the work yourself. You may consider ARB lockers. That would probobly be the cheapest solution.

3. either one is a quality product, it kinda comes down to which apeals to you.

I'll make an educated guess (while padding my posts) and say the locker install would likely exceed 3 grand. That is why everyone here advises... to buy your Cruiser with lockers (like I did not). I am a big dummy!

Cruiserdan has posted the things that he had to have done to retrofit his axles to e-lockers, try searching lockers with his name.

1: Well north of 4 grand using new parts AND paying somebody to do it.

2: Some movement is normal. How much are we talking?

3: As already mentioned, either one is a good choice. Hanna's have cat protection.

I'm a bit confused with the "why" part. Do you mean why have them in the first place or why pick one over the other?

#1) Here's half of your battle

#2) Mine does also!!

#3) I went with Hanna (he's only 3 hrs. away, and he installed them.) Nothing against Slee though, he's a great guy as well.

WTF are they talking about as a rare Non USA  Sure as hell looks like the one in my 96 and everyother factory locked 80 from 93 to 97

Just a WAG but I would guess its the cable locker not the e locker so easier to install as no ecu issues.
to your question 2.

have you checked the bolts that hold it down?? seems kind of silly but they will back out with time. if its the recline that is rocking back and forth check out the threads on reclining rear seats for photos on how it works and it should get you started.

As far as the sliders are concerned, pick the one who's closer to you to save on shipping costs. I think the prices are about the same, so shipping's going to be the only difference.

Both Slee and Hanna are high quality products and are comparable as far as performance is concerned.

You can do the rear cable locker for the price of a used complete rear axle assembly and the cost of the Downey Cable locker.

I have the Landtoy80 IMPROVED Downey Cable locker system but only because I killed my actuator (I am a hard core 4xer you know and thing brake when you 4x hard)

I STILL will have the offer open!!!
I will trade my Landtoy80 IMPROVED Downey Cable Locker System for a great shape working rear diff lock actuator.
