I've been toying with the idea of adding spacers, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet because I’m aiming to keep my FJ62 as close to stock as possible. That said, the factory wheels look really tucked in, and it’s been bugging me lately.

I'm specifically considering the 1.5" Spidertrax spacers. Anyone here running them? I'd love to hear your experience—pros, cons, any unexpected issues? Did you need to trim studs or modify anything else? How’s the long-term stability of the steering?

Part of me says leave it alone and respect the OEM stance. The other part likes the more aggressive look a set of spacers would bring. Curious what the rest of you think.

I have 1.5" spacers on my 62 with steelies and hubcaps. I think it gives it that "Stock+" look. These are not SpiderTrax, but I have run them on other Cruisers. You shouldn't need to trim anything or do anything special. I've never noticed any difference in steering or handling with vs without.

I have a set of hub centric 2" billet aluminum spacers from US Wheel Adapters to fit my 17" Fuel wheels and they've been great. They attach to the vehicle lug studs with their own nuts, and then have their own studs for mounting the wheels. If I can ever (financially) score an FZJ80 rear end (which is 4" wider than the stock FJ62 rear) the rear adapters will obviously go, but in the meantime I have zero complaints.

Given your situation though, I'd just leave it stock. If stability were an issue, then worth considering, but the stock configuration is more than adequate unless you're driving like Steve McQueen.

I run 'em. Been running them for years on all different stuff

I currently run spacers with 40s. Adding them to your maintenance schedule as @GTV stated is key to not having issue with them on the road.
