We are rebuilding a 1973 FJ40. The hard top is probably from a 77-79.

We should be painting the body / top in the next couple of weeks.

The weatherstrip around the windshield, side windows, corner glass and ambulance doors looks to be in pretty good shape.

There is no cracking in the weatherstrip. The only gaskets / weatherstrip that is questionable are the kick out windows behind the long glass on the hard top side.

What are your thoughts on reusing the weatherstripping? New weatherstripping from CCOT / CityRacer runs $400-$500.

I appreciate your thoughts.

I would only use OEM weather striping. Your call if you re-use the original or buy new. If it's in great condition I would re-use it.

Most aftermarket is junk. It will need replaced in a couple of years.

Just replaced the broken rear window on my 1970 FJ40. The seal looked good, and I wiped it down with some silicone spray. My local glass shop said it was in great shape and was no problem to re-use them if they aren't cracked.

I've reused my windshield gasket twice. OEM and still in great shape for 46 years old. Toyota quality can't be beat.
