Butch you paid 4k for that? holy s***

I make my living with stuff like this, along with 2 tool boxes full, replacement value last time I inventoried for insurance was around 50k

If I had your truck and my scanner in 1-5 minutes I could diagnose every problem you have.....and eliminate costly shotgun style repairs, throwing parts at it til you hit the problem.

Not talking down or preaching to ya.......:cheers:

And no I did not pay 4k, I traded my 15 yr old scanner in, got it for 2k

$75 per week.....heck I been paying Don (my Snap On rep) that for nearly 20 yrs now.

i'm going to eventually make the cable, but i got a buddy who can get his dealership to scan for me for free. So i'll go get a print out tomorrow and see what it says. The code it is throwing is 34, which is low vaccum. How is that low when i have 18 at idle??? hmmm....

Also, troll i ran a 5/16 line all the way back to the stock return fitting on the tank, i have a T fitting but don't understand how i am supposed to plumb it into the overflow line on the gas filler hose because the overflow line is significantly larger diameter than the 5/16 line. I think i'm doing it wrong. haha If you could post a pic, it would help alot, i understand lots better with pics :)

Frightening how much tools and equipment cost, I did a quick reckoning and came up with about $20K, perhaps didn't cost me that because I have bought some stuff used but if I had to get a replacement tomorrow for work........

PS 75 * 52 * 20 = 195000, time for a rebate!

aight so after burning 30 gallons in less than 100 miles lol, i realized i'm running a bit rich:D. Broke out the ohm meter and started checking my wires going to the map sensor, and guess what, one of the wires that went to the map sensor plug, was broken at the crimp, but i didn't notice cause all my crimps are wrapped with electric tape. This is why if you have the funds, SHRINK WRAP OR SOLDER!!

Anyway took her for a spin and dam, no more HUGE clouds of black smoke, no more smoke during idling. This thing was smoking worse than a diesel before i fixed the connection to the map sensor. No more bogging in lower rpms. And best of all, no more codes.:bounce: Computer has to relearn again so i'll report back on performance. And i have some more pics i'm gonna post and a video. later:cheers:

Computer shows codes for a reason . . .

Glad you got it running right.

Good job. Now get some electrical tap and wire loom and clean up those wires.

DON'T USE ELECTRICAL TAPE... Electrical tape is for your house wiring and for closing a cut in the garage... that's it.

Go here and get heat shrink, corrugated loom, or braided sleeves.

Welcome to Waytek Wire

I seriously doubt he is gonna heat shrink his wiring.

Electrical tape is for everything.

What's the drawback?

When I did mine I used electrical tape. I just never overlapped it. Then put it in a loom.

oh just wait... after a year or two it will start to unravel... glue will either dry up and turn to dust or if you are lucky it will just partially break down and turn into a gooey mess. Don't get any oil, gasoline, or any of those other things you often seen all over the place in an automobile because it will break down the glue.

You only really need heat shrink on the connections. The wire itself will hold up fine. Put the wire right into split loom or braided sleeves.

troll I already taped and loomed everything last week, I used top notch scotch brand electric tape but am planning on taking it all apart to solder and shrink wrap soon. also if you guys want me to get a accurate mpg reading then someone hook me up with a speedo that actually works!

I'll update soon in da hospital right now. Dad just had a knee replacement so I'm typingnoff of a I phone. Later
