Hey I saw your outfit at my work so, of course, I had to get some pics of such a nice cruiser. The driver was dropping off another vehicle before sending this to you. I got on IH8MUD to see if someone here on the forum owns it and sure enough....

Congrats!

Slight hijack [on] We are expecting some from you soon as well Charles ;) Slight hijack [off]

To the OP, that is a good looking truck!

first things first through those wretched worm drive clamps in the trash and get some t bolt clamps
Oh, I hear ya! I can't stand those things. I guess in a pinch I'd be glad to have 'em but they have to go...

If it was perfect it wouldn't be any fun. ..... Tinkering = Happiness.

Sonuva! Just filled both fuel tanks. Ouch. Between both tanks there is ~38 gallon capacity. I hope I don't have to fill them too often but it's nice knowing I'll get some decent driving range.

If it's factory 2 tanks should be 180L which should be about 1000km or 600 plus miles if it's a good running motor

Is your second (rear) fuel gauge located in the center dash pod?
There is no second fuel gauge. The cluster is pretty standard.

What it does have, and I'm still trying to figger it out, is this. It was explained to me as some kind of fuel transfer system. Aussie guys or anyone else with knowledge about how it works, speak up. It has red led

that turn to green and back to red--randomly. And there is a small button on the left side. When depressed, an amber led illuminates and it sounds like an electric fuel pump is actuated. It doesn't seem to affect the green/red led flashing sequences though...

I don't think it's a factory set up. After fill up, I think the total volume between the two tanks is about 145L. I'm okay with that. Anymore than that and I'll be having to run the debit card twice...

I have that switch on my 100 for my LRA aux tank. I think other companies used the same brand switch too. It operates just as you described. Push the button and the top amber light comes on as it transfers fuel from my aux tank to the main tank. The fuel level lights are green until you come close to empty, when the red flashes. I think the "light" below the button is an ambient light sensor which controls the brightness of the indicator lights.

If the green and red lights are coming on randomly, you are either at the threshold of near empty or you have a shorted wire/loose connection.

While this is not my Cruiser, this is the rear fuel gauge and pod I was referring to. I'm assuming it's factory.

Is this the truck that Steve purchased from Land Cruisers Direct that was hung up in customs forever? Either way, it's a great looking rig and I am hella jealous! Congrats!

Yes. One and the same. Customs was a nightmare. It was imported not long after the news broke about those illegally tagged Rovers getting confiscated and crushed. So of course, Customs went over it with a fine tooth comb. The logistics were hosed form the jump. Steve was told the truck would port in Houston, Texas on 10/01/2014. It arrived on the scheduled date but ported in Long Beach, California. There was a shortage of customs agents so that added to the time frame. After the initial inspection, Customs deemed that there was some foreign plant material in a wheel well that could potentially contain seeds from noxious Australian weeds. The vehicle had to be held until "decontamination" could be completed. Yep. No one immediately available for that so that added to the wait time. Oh yeah, all this extra attention costs extra! Once decontamination was complete, the Ute was to be transported to Dallas/Fort Worth by rail. Oh, this gets good. We're told there is a shortage of rail cars. Customs wasn't sure when the vehicle would be transported. Steve kept in me apprised of the situation and we shared frustration. Once in D/FW, Steve had to make the trip to pick it up and got it back to Missouri where the Cruiser was serviced. I think he had the truck ready for transport on about 12/01. The weather was nasty and it was very cold in Idaho and with the holidays just around the corner I asked if he would hold it until the first of the year. Of course Steve was accommodating. Finally transport was arranged for pickup on January 21st and it arrived Friday, January 23rd. Was it worth the time and effort? You bet! This is where I give a shout out to Steve at Land Cruisers Direct. The dude is all about these imported rigs and he knows his stuff and is a square shooter. So if you want a non USA Cruiser, check out LCD.

Oh. No way. My dash has no extra instruments on it. It is a total Neanderthal. Primitive beast it is...
