So I knew I needed to take off running boards but for daughters sake i left them for now. Well trails made decision for me! After these pics I got some questions for folks but enjoy minor carnage first. As I mentioned the trail was pretty rough and tough in spots and we didnt get good pics at all of the good stuff!:crybaby:

Some more, I had to pop out panel beside door in order to open my door! wasnt planning on destroying side steps but it happened!

Last group of photos, Hannah my beautiful yet offroad numb girlie decided to run into tree clearly 2 feet of the trail and give truck her first scar, not bad, but enough to make me think bumper in order! Sliders are also most definitely in order also.

All in all I love the truck and so does the woman! She even supports the build up. The tires didnt lose grip much at all, I wasnt aired down either! Things in the must do list are rear storage and sliders. Now a couple questions?? These 2 weeks have given me good idea how I want to go with build!

?1. I compressed shocks, didn't take any effort to compress, that mean they are worn out? I didn't install them so running stock for now?

?2. The trim above the doors on the rain gutter thing. Is it neccasary? I bent it up in branch, just wondering if I can remove it.

I will be romoving door panels and fixing and checking on all windows when I get back again figuring as how i knocked both rear ones of track somehow. Finishing fluids and tune up. Here in next couple days I am going to compile more detailed list of what I will be doing figuring I have some more perspective? Looking forward to more building and more wheeling!

Love the Tatoo!!!!!

Congrats on the LC. I'm also currently deployed and purchased my first LC when I went home on my mid tour leave. The guy I bought it from did a ton of work on it so there wasn't much for me to do but drive it around and enjoy it, so that's what I did. 3 more months in this country and then I get to go home and really enjoy it.

It was an awesome feeling coming home, and awesome feeling playing with the cruiser, I had alot of issues last deployment and this time was nice just having fun!

Nothing like a good trail ride in the new LC to help you forget your problems.

So these are my immediate immediate plans when I get back. In theoretical order of course..........

-Take apart doors and clean and fix whatever I have to........ more search is needed.
-Take off ruined side steps, fender flares, roof rack, rear spoiler and fill appropriate holes.
-Cut front bumper to make look better and tighten up for approach.
All that stuff out of way ad missing moving on...
-back on jack stands, install whatever shocks I get and switch around springs I think I put them in backwards, will have to measure.
-Change transfer case fluid, transmission fluid, radiator fluid, diff fluid and plugs and wires and belts.
-Fix my right side shaky mirror
-Clean inside and apply trim kit I got

Thats what I have and can do right away! The shocks I have not ordered yet but will be soon!

On the to do list of things must order and do are ...

-order the new bulbs (john deere ones i think) and harnesses from slee off road
-Some leds for inside starting with dome lights
-Replace battery with optima I think
-Make rear storage thingy, dont like stuff floating around back there
-Order front end kit from cdan
-order some performance rotors, caliper rebuild kit and 100 series pads
-cup holders

many many more things to come but going to stick with immediate wants and needs then start sorting out bigger stuff.

Ok I ordered skid plate from Iron Pig Offroad, will get my brother to send me pics when it arrives, along with couple shackles while I was on there. I am going to go with trail-gear or marlin sliders. I tried ordering and wouldnt work so said f**k it for now. I am going with them after reading this post and deciding my use wont be heavy enough to use more costly 80 sliders. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/137088-sliders-little-different-than-everyone-else.html I will also be getting arb bumper after i gave the options to the woman and she said "I think that one is best for me to hit things with", for wheeling I do and will do I really like idea of upper hoops. Not sure where to get it from yet tho?

I got my HIR bulbs from this site, HIR Headlights 9011 9012 bulbs , and a Slee headlight upgrade harness from Slee Offroad. Some mudders use the Landrover cupholders as a bolt on mod. You can find the details using the advanced search option. Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters can help you get the OME pieces to finish you suspension. Glad you all got to enjoy yourselves on leave.

So I ordered a skid plate and some shackles from Iron Pig Offroad! Tmrw am ordering a ARB Bumper and some lights from them as well. I am going to PM CDan to order some 100series pads, a caliper rebuild kit and a axle rebuild kit for the front end! Also ordered the sliders from trail gear, I know there not heavy duty but I don't for see landing on them more just pivoting on them. The medium spring are quickly out the door. So I think I am going to get the heavy rear springs and J front with L shocks all way round but not 100% on that yet, might just go heavies all round!

I vote for upgrading everything to the F.O.R. lift. I just ordered mine yesterday. I will let you know how everything works out once they are on the truck.
Good luck and stay safe.

Yes let me know, I keep hearing the best and maybe instead of piece meal just save little bit and do all at once!

If you can wait on ordering your suspension, we can take them out for a cruise when you are stateside again so we can compare the two lifts. I plan on cutting a wrap or two. 3.5 inches is a little more than I am looking for. I only want 2 to 2.5 inches. I do not like the idea of lifting my truck and not gaining any travel. Which is what OME does with the 2.5 when you get stock height shocks. Now you just ride higher in the travel range and you have less down travel. Its fine if all you want is more height, but I am hoping for a little more. Not that I dislike OME, its just that it doesn't really suit my need. Actually, please hold off on new suspension. I would really like to ride in both and see how they compare.

I'm so glade I went with the full Frankies kit. No drive shaft because he said wait and see if it was needed and it wasn't.

Ok I can wait I am not sure when I will be back though! I am looking at November range but hopefully sooner. The army has added to my time so well see.

For all Maine boys or eastern guys I would like to have a get together at some point? I not sure where to post this but there are a couple of us out here.

Julian- Great looking truck, keep us posted on improvements, thanks for your service, and most of all KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!! Be safe, and come home soon.
Ned (Vietnam '69-'70)
PS- One more thing, save your money because your truck will burn through ALL of it. But it's fun.
