Luckily it was the door at the directional driller's end of the shack. The interior drifting slowed down once the outside of the door drifted over more..... lol

Well the DD had his Hello Kitty blankie to keep him warm and cozy anyway.

Got the 62 air cleaner modded and tack welded to fit the fender.

Inlet sucks from between the fender pieces (open next to the headlight up front), may eventually punch through the outer upper fender for a snorkel.

Also picked up a "build your own body lift" kit from PA today. All the body mount bolts broke free without snapping. :)

Planning to use the stock 62 in-tank fuel pump within a surge tank (modded ammo box mounted next to the stock 55 tank) to feed the efi. Need to get going on that, as it's the big hurdle for test firing the engine.

Cool idea on the surge tank

Mounting ring for the fuel pump cut out of an old tank. Body mount spacers in..... was a bit finicky to do without a two post lift, but they're in. Should be no concern of the hood and engine rubbing now, added benefit will be a bit extra clearance for tires, exhaust, sliders,....

Mounted the ECU last night up high under the dash / behind the glovebox. Was going to start running harness wiring last night too, but it's clear the cowl harness that came with the engine has already undergone heavily culling / hacking by someone who must have aborted a 3FE swap attempt previously. So plan is to start harvesting needed bits out of the rusty 62 I picked up in AB last spring. I think I'm going to try fitting the 62 radiator if adapting it isn't too difficult. I have 2 55 rads, but neither is usable condition without a recore / rebuild.

Fuel surge tank bits ready to burn together.

I removed a couple of feeder lines from the intake tract (for the exhaust air injection and the PCV vent) to clean things up. No catalytic converters on a '70 pig, and I'm planning to go draft tube for the crankcase vent. No EGR or PCV crap to fill the intake manifold with coked up oily-carbon gunk.

Not so slow anymore! Looking good.

I'm hoping to have it road worthy in June. :)

Pulling harness out intact is slow work, but expect I'll put a fair bit of the 62 wiring to use in the pig since it's nice and supple and the 55 wiring is pretty brittle. Hoping I can put the 62 gages in, so I'll have a tach and the speedo will supply the VSS signal the ECU will want.

Been back to slow for the last week and a half. Banged up a rib in a fight with a tree stump...

But harness is out of the 62, fuel lines from the 62 are sitting loosely in place ready for some minor bending and fixing in place once the surge tank is in place (going under the sock tank just behind the axle). Welded the pump flange in this afternoon. Anybody know what I should use for a gasoline-stable thread sealer? Will Teflon tape or pipe dope hold up?

E-brake is in and hooked up. :)

Rat's nest of 1969 wiring out, going through the '88 FJ62 cowl/dash harness now and removing some unnecessary circuits. This wiring is basically the last line on the "to test fire the engine" part of the to do list, then on to crossing lines off of the "to drive around the yard" part of the to do list.

Looking awesome

More progress. Doesn't look like much, but took a lot of time to work through the harness and a bit of a fight to get it wrestled into the dash.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to get it all plugged in place, a few jumpers run and see if it will fire.

That turned out great. Be nice to hear it sing

Good day... Cranked over on the key fine once everything was plugged in, and fired right up after running jumper wires to the fuel pump and priming the fuel lines. Sounds nice and smooth :)

But... several of the banjo bolts were seeping fuel..... I'm pretty sure I've got new seal washers on the shelf. Also seeping fuel at the top of the surge tank, not overly surprising, maybe can touch up the weld, or line the surge tank with some epoxy or whatever.

Frigin eh

Question on tubing flaring someone might be able to help with. Do I need to find a metric double flare tool? Or can I get by with a standard one?

Broke out a tool I picked up a year or more ago and found it's standard. Tried making a flare for the clutch line using the 3/16" die (tubing seems to spec out at 4.75mm or 3/16" OD) but it didn't seal. Now it's likely that this first try was crappy on my part, but the "nub" on the die is a very loose fit inside the tubing, doesn't seem right... Will likely give it a second try tonight, along with getting started on some exhaust from the manifolds back to O2 sensors.

After a good check over , it looks like the fitting on the soft line is fuggered... so that's most or all of the issue.
