My takeaway was that the full time 4WD configs get the 9.5, so the 4runner has that config as well as a part time setup that the LC250 and GX don’t get.

Pretty good article discussing the development priorities of the 2.4 hybrid engineering team. Seems like they tuned this hybrid version (Tacoma, LC, 4Runner) to respond well to the demands of truck life (on- and offroad). Go Toyota!

It's growing on me. I love the "Toyota" grille badge. Wasn't that what 200s were going for though? I wonder if dropping the hybrid would have allowed a ~$50k entry price point.

so initial impressions, actually standing next to the thing IMO its smaller than i thought, honestly it only looks slightly bigger than a rav4. The interior is cramped for someone of my husky stature lol. Im almost never one to buy new cars so my opinion doesn't matter much but i can think of a bunch of vehicles id buy in that price range before this.
And yes that's around what 200's where selling for, but 200's were the flagship of toyota, the best of the best. I could almost see paying that for a new one. You know why we didn't get the 300 series here? Because 200 sales decreased every year, Toyota choose to market the 200 in the luxury suv class and sadly there are too many better options in that category for the average american consumer. So instead of bringing the 300 here we get this tiny thing at the same price point ?! Idk its just my 2cents but i think they missed the mark big time, the GX is the same prado chassis platform and is nicer with more options, if i was in the market for something of this size that probably where id start.
but yes the "toyota" grille badge was definitely a nice touch i like it too

It’s just a marketing piece. IMO what makes the video cool is seeing Toyota’s Hokaido based Shibetsu Proving Ground.

I would like a few laps at that track.
I will say that my wife and I were signed up for a 24 Land Cruiser and it was going to cost 63K. The dealer informed us 4 months ago that they would be adding adjusted market value to the price bringing it up to 74K.
She loves her new 4runner.
