"During an apparent commute home, the owner of a 2024 GR Corolla told Carscoops he inadvertently downshifted to third instead of upshifting to fifth. This should be a case of no harm, no foul. Except for the fact that the dealer service record states the vehicle was possibly revving at 8,900 rpm. The GR Corolla has a redline of 6,500 rpm."

3rd gear = 1.53
4th gear = 1.16

So the dude was banging off the redline in his 500 mile car and didn't stomp the clutch when he felt the driveline shock after the missed shift.

Ouch. I barely went over 4k RPM during the recommended 1000km break in period on my GRC.

On a side note, I'd love to see that $42k estimate. The short block for this is in the $6k neighborhood. The cylinder head about $2k.

I little bit from the original source article...

"Regardless of whether or not Toyota covers it, the repair bill here seems outrageous. The short block assembly costs $5,483.45. The head is $2,297.97 and the timing cover is a further $1,180.88, while the intercooler assembly is $3,031.94 and the turbocharger assembly is an additional $5,299.78."

I'm not sure why this would require a new turbo or intercooler.

I'm digging these Land Cruiser course events in Japan:

Anyone else up watching Le Mans warm ups? Nyck De Vries just rear ended the Lexus GT3 with his Toyota hyper car. :bang:. Big dummy.

Ok, I vote for the club to buy a piece of property to build some courses! That said, I'm not into the timed event as those guys are just thrashing their trucks...

Oh yeah, real estate is stupid expensive around here....

1:40 to go... Toyota takes the lead.

Top 4
Toyota
Ferrari
Cadillac
Porsche

Awesome!

BTW, if you have Max streaming service, no commercials on their feed of the race.

Hot off the press... this guy's videos are usually highly technical nerdy info you can't get anywhere else. Haven't watched it yet. Hopefully another great one.

Anyone check out this show on HBO Max? He's building an FJ45 IFS rock crawler. He's mostly a jeep guy but has done some Toyota builds over the years.
