if $$ is a concern I can tell you I made my own PS plate. Not very hard, just used a bandsaw that was at work.

$$ is starting to be an issue. I could make a place, I have an angle grinder and a chunk of 1/4" plate, but the cast adaptor from Proffitts is pretty nice. :rolleyes:

I thought it was better to weld and bolt the plate on than using a cast piece bolted on?
This sucker is welded on and way thick.

I saw one of the cast adaptor plates this weekend first hand. Now I understand. :doh:

After a hell of a lot of work I have the rear end looking closer to what I want.

Since I don't have a torch I cut the shackle hangers off with a angle grinder/cutting wheel, a cold chisel, and a 3# sledge.

I played around with the spring packs for a couple of days trying different combinations. Just time consuming hard work for a desk jockey, spring on, spring off, spring on, spring off, etc....

I actually cut the hanger off again and moved it further back, also removed one more leaf. Then did the same to the other side. No picture as the light ran out by the time I finished.

The Brown Truck of Happiness showed up Friday.:D

Monday I start undoing everything I did to my front end.

On your rear end.

If you cant the shackle at a better angle (more like 45*) you will have a more comfy ride.

your truck will probably settle a bit as well after a week of driving or so . Keep that in mind when you choose the final height. I have found on stock springs the settling difference in height is usually about an inch.

I had to wait a week to get started. Screw up with the flooring co. Any way it's a good excuse to take a week off to work on the Cruiser.
Made some progress today. Click image to see full size.

Finished off grinding and filling/grinding the places where I scored the frame while removing the old brackets this morning. Then cleaned everything up with 24 grit flap wheels. Spent a while cleaning up from the cutting grinding
Bird crap welding;

Marked out where to cut holes for the shackle hangers;

The view from my front yard this morning, AKA why I love Nevada:

Some great wheeling 5 minutes from my house.

Spent some time finding 9/16 X4 1/2" bolts and a 1 1/2" inch hole saw.Tommorow I think I will get the PS gear box re-mounted just to make sure things are working out before I cut holes in the frame.

I learned a couple of things from this excersize so far.
1 - I have a lot more faith in my bird crap welds after cutting them off.
2 - The pretty welds I paid a lot for when I had the shackle reversal done didn't get as good of penetrating as my s*** looking welds.

I've been fighting this all day. Moving the PS pump up was binding the linkage. This is the best solution I could come up with;

To booty fab?

Nice work, I still have the same old "rock finder" shackle reversal on my 40 that you just removed from your cruiser; I'm interested to hear what you think of the profits sa after putting some miles on it.

I won't be getting any miles on it until I figure out this PS thing.
What I'm thinking is I'll shift the PS gear box over an inch or so with a metal plate top and bottom, in the pic I kluged a plat on top to check it out. The linkage works with no binding. I picked up some HREW to sleeve the bolts with this afternoon.

Any thoughts? I can use some feedback here.

Hey Rusty can you use spacers between the pump and the plate and go with heavier grade and slightly longer bolt? What part of Reno are you in?

I picked up some 3/4" HREW at Desert Steel this afternoon.

Damonte Ranch, you?

Well lacking anybody telling my I'm over engineering this thing I forged ahead today.

It's a tight fit between the winch and PS gear box

I added a piece in the angled area

And a piece underneath

Lifted the winch/bumper on and off the bumper brackets three or four times, heavy bastid my back is sore. I didn't show the grinding I had to do to relive the bumper brackets where they interfered with the new spring hangers.
