Hello my name is.. updated with new pics
Well I've been lurking for long enough and I guess it's finally time to step up and say hello. I thought I'd post it here since most of my time will be in the 80s forum. My name is Dave Connors and I have very little to offer from a technical stand point. Thus the lurking tendency. I intend to contribute where I can and I'll attempt to document the remaining build up of my Cruisers. I'm a proud member of Wasatch Cruisers and feel lucky to live in a state where using my trucks is very easy to do.
I have a 1966 FJ40 that is pretty much done mechanically (350, SM465, fine spline axles, ARBs, 4.56s) and just waiting for me to break out the sand paper and bondo for the Spring Green paint. My second 40 is little more than a frame, some random parts and a title.
I've recently (okay about a year ago) seen the light and finally replaced my Tacoma with a venerable FZJ80. I was lucky to find a good truck here on Mud. 1997 40th Anniversary Edition, lockers, OME Heavy lift, 285's, ARB with Ramsey 9500 winch, Slee Sliders. 101k miles. I flew out to Oklahoma and picked it up about a month ago and made a new friend from the Cruiser world in the process. I've ordered the front J springs for the 80 and plan to run it level for awhile before I step up to rear J's. A snorkel will arrive with the springs because as a true poseur I need my snorkel. I have my 40 for harder trails and I intend to build my 80 as an 'expedition' rig. Maybe someday I'll be able to pull off a real multi-national expedition. Until then it will just be used for longer excursions here in Utah and the Western States.
Oh and I am a Leo. I've attached a pic of each of my trucks and me at my most glorious, scared to death on the z-turn bypass last year during CM. I'm sure Amando has better pics of this but they've yet to show up on his site.
