Okay my fellow expeditioners, this is the place to let your fellow travelers know that you ARE going to Colorado this year on the "2005 GCC Colorado Expedition".

Tell us when you are leaving, what rig you are bringing, family members that are going -- especially your kids ages, Emily needs play-friends for the trip :D and any other pertinent information.

I'm getting so stoked for this one!! I'll be talking to the LSLC guys about their plans as well and how we may be hookin' up.

Jody,

I'm still "thinking about it". I've got a trip to Floriday the first week of August, and I'm sure I'll have a bunch of projects at work piled up on me.

We are planning on the 2nd week in August. Looks like Randy and Ellen will already be up there after their daughter's wedding.

I spoke with Gary and he is planning to be there for 3-4 weeks! I plan to hit Denver around the 23rd and hook up with Bob Deveroux. We plan a 2 weeks ish crossing of the mountains ending up in Silverton area around the 4-7ish. I was planning to hang out in Silverton for a few days then on to Albuquerque for a few days then maybe go see Butch and Kowboy then back home.

Bob will only be in Sliverton a day or so. I am open to just about any idea. Gary and I spoke of using Silverton as a base for a few 2 day trips out.

I also have an opportunity to rent a hgouse in Silverton but I need roomates to afford it. It will be me, my dog and my 62.

My family will be up there for part of the 1st week and part of the 2nd. Some schools in Dallas start the 3rd week of August, so we are going to go ahead and go early. I am curious as to how many will be there the 1st week?

Chad

I hope to go in the first week of August.

Silverton-August

Right now I'm about 70-30 going. If so, I'll have Josh and Aurica with me ( 9 and 8 respectively). Hope to see lots of people there. :)

Hey man, where did you find a house that allows pets? The one we stayed in last year did not, nor did any of the houses in town that I called about last year. If this house has indoor plumbing Jenny, myself, and my dog would be interested in bunking. Otherwise, I think we are going to shoot for a motel room at the Red Mountain campground...that is where all are camping again?

oh, and Jenny, Myself, and my dog are definitly in this year. I have to check on Dave Acosta and his wife, as well as the family clan I brought last year. Just need some solid dates so I know when to take vacation :)

later.

jody,

So are we definitly in for the second week in august? If so, normally Lance as able to arrange for discount lodging at the Red Mountain hotel/camping joint. Is there any buzz word that we need to drop when we call to make our reservations? Not sure which thread is active, so I'm going to x-post (and probably get in trouble) in the LSLC thread.

Kumar

My family is definitely on for the 2nd week in August. I'll talk with Lance and see what he is doing about the lodging and such.

I understand that we may stay at Silverton a few days and then relocate to Crested Butte for the rest of the week. That's what's been floating around the GCC yahoo group mail list. I think that's what we will do if the others all fall into line.

I'll check the LSLC thread and see what they are up to.

Jody.

I called to make reservations in Silverton, and they have a 5 day cancellation policy. Do we have the dates for Crested Butte yet and the place to stay? If not, I'll probably stay the entire week in Silverton.

I called the Red Mountain Inn and they said if you mention the 'land cruiser group' you can get camping for 17 per nite and hotel room for 10.00 off normal rate (they only have 3 left). Cabins are 10.00 off too (but they are all booked up). I'll xpost into LSLC thread as well. For those that don't know, you will want to book now, as Silverton fills up pretty quickly. I will be there the second week in August from the 7th (sun) leaveing the following saturday.

Thanks!

Hello, my wife, son Max (7) daughter Olivia (3) and I will be in Colorado with my '97 FZJ80 from July 31 through August 12.
I'd really like to meet up with like-minded folks (meaning family-oriented/scenic outdoors trips including 4wheeling, hiking, picnic sightseeing etc) while we're out there.
From the info in looks like you are planning to travel around Silverton expedition-style (living out of your vehicle)? If so, I'm not sure if we can meet up with you guys, at least this year.
My default plans are to explore the Front Range the first week, and South Central area 2nd week, by taking day trips from a central 'mountain cabin'. We can cancel our existing reservations for full refund until mid-July. However, for this first trip my family plans to have a 'home base' (day trips, not expedition), and I don't think we can afford the extra 2 days (round-trip) it would take to get to Silverton (we are coming from Chicago area). But with that said, if I mis-read or misunderstood your trip plans, and my dates/areas sound compatible with your guys', then please let me know as I'd love to meet up.

Regards,
Green family, on 'first annual' Colorado trip :D

All,

If anyone is interested in tagging along, I will be going to Silverton AM of August 7th (sunday) from Denver (actually Castle Rock) to Silverton via Lake City/Cinnamon Pass. This Pass is the easiest in the area and should be a good primer for the trip in...of course, no trailers ;)

Later.

Two LC's, passing like ships on a sea of mountains...

I'll be passing by Castle Rock that day, between Front Range and Co Springs/Pikes Peak area. I will PM you my cell #, and maybe, if you get out late that morning, we can say Howdy, maybe have lunch or breakfast.

Kumar,

Our family plans have changed a bit. We will arrive in Silverton on Sunday the 7th and leave on Wednesday the 10th. Had to cut it short due to some new business "issues" that came up recently.

Anyhow, we are staying at the Red Mountain Motel. Someone look us up Sunday evening for dinner!! We will be in the white DCab Tacoma with black wheels, ARB bullbar and two :princess: :princess: Can't miss us.

Kenton,

It would be cool if you could be there too so Olivia and Emily could play some. Emily is 3 too!! We need distractions for 3 year olds... :D

Anyhow, see everyone up there Sunday night!!!

Jody, Lee Anne, Emily & Josie

well, at least you get to make it for part of the time! Mark Brodis is bringing his kid in sunday as well, so there will be plenty of kids. If we all make it in good time, we should meet up at Handlebars for dinner. I'lll be staying across the street at Canyon Inn
