The knuckles had an 1” or so of funk on them.

Engine bay cleaned up nicely, still some funk down low by the p/s pump.

This is probably going to be a boring build for awhile since time is limited and I am just getting it up to par for now.

With the horrible mpg I am getting a v8 is really on my mind. :)

Little baby steps to make the truck better.

So I ended up with this 95. Didn’t really want it but ended up with it anyways. It has a bad engine but otherwise is really nice.

Not sure what I am going to do yet but I don’t really want two money pit Cruisers. I am mulling over a few different options. I do need an 80 chassis for a clients build so that is probably going to be one of these two Cruises I own now.

Cloth guts and lockers is quite an unusual combination.

Gold emblems too and I know. I am considering swapping the engine from my 93 over. The 95 is a better truck but the 93 is OBD1. Haven’t explored what’s involved yet or how much is involved. I guess swap the harness and related ECU’s at the same time.

There is also an H151 sitting here at my place suited for the 1FZ. New trans assembly I may be able to acquire.

Ho-hum....what to do!

Cheers

You can't swap the electrical. To put an early motor in a later truck you need to move the crank position sensor components to the old motor as well as the throttle body and EGR temp sensor.

Excellent, thanks for that info Dan.

Can’t decide what to do with these two.

I would like to just toss a v8 in the 95 but that is not on the cards, not this year anyways.

Got a couple grand in engine parts for whichever I decide to keep.

Options are rolling around in my head...

Get good engine and swap it in the 95 and sell the 93.

Take engine from 93, convert to OBD2 using 95’s parts, rock the 95.

Sell or trade one. I actually have both listed here on mud to see what action I get. And for anyone reading this, I am up for trading one of these for the right mini truck, 79-87 only.

I do have a used but like new ARB front bumper now and will have a slightly used OME lift soon as well. So that will go on whichever.

The 95 is for sure the better truck and keeper but the engine is a big job I don’t have a lot of time for.

Gave my 80 some love yesterday, as you can see the old radiator was about to blow at any time.

I installed a new Denso rad, water pump, upper & lower rad hoses, belts, thermostat, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and a new fan clutch.

It’s running great, going to take it on it’s first good road trip this weekend since I bought it.

Cheers

Did 250 or so miles on dirt in the 93 over the weekend. The Cruiser is 100% stock with only a CDL. I was the only stock rig in our group, the Cruiser killed it and gave me zero issues.

Nice 80 man. Have u raised your breathers higher up for deeper ccrossings?

Nah, it’s all stock.

I am moving the engine over to the green 95 pictured. It’s the better Cruiser so why not!?

:)

Besides the locked axles, what’s better about it?! It’s green for Christ’s sake! (Sorry Dan)

Better condition. Interior and paint is a lot better. I like the green! My best friend (who is now gone) bought a new 80 in 1994, it was green and I was with him that day.

Just lifted the 93 yesterday, tossed in an OME medium kit.

It needed it badly, only had about an inch of up travel to the bump stops on the original springs and shocks.

I haven’t done much with the 93 other than drive it. It could use a few things but has been really solid for me so far.

I have got an ARB bumper to toss on it soon. Besides that not much planned right now I am to busy with clients builds.

I think I have decided to swap a v8 in the 95. One of the top three best Cruisers I could build myself is an 80 with a v8. The 95 is just begging for it too! Going to do it slow, acquire this and that when funds allow. Once I have everything in hand I will do the swap. I have had v8 FJ60, v8 FJ80 and a 100-series as my do all truck in the past. All great trucks and all were built up a lot. Big toss up between the 60 or 80, I like both a lot but I got the 80 so that decision is made for me. Think I will keep the 95 for a long time and build it up slowly over the years.

Cheers

Ton of work done on the 93 Cruiser recently.

-new p/s pump, high pressure line and low pressure lines, new reservoir as well.

-new booster & master

-new coil

-cleaned TB & intake. EGR system was clogged, all good now.

-had some powder coated radius arms laying around so tossed some OME caster bushings in and installed the arms.

-new bushings in the entire suspension. Sway bars rebuilt too. New hardware throughout the suspension.

-new tre’s.

-Blackhawk adjustable rear panhard.

-SLEE belly skid.

-Metaltech sliders.

-replaced ALL vacuum lines on engine.

-new fuel filter and screen in tank. New sending unit as well.

-new stuffing on drivers seat bottom.

-new steering wheel.

-powder coating stock wheels a gun metalish color. 315 Geolander M/Ts as well.

-pretty much every single hose in the engine bay is new now, every one was hard as a rock and needed it.

-dizzy o-ring and timed it while I was at it.

I think that is most of it. Headed to Moab in a week so wanted to give the Cruiser some love before I ask it to do my bidding! :)
