It was a good one for sure. Too bad i disabled both cruisers at once lol.

Nice job on the bumper. Knew it would fit. Key to bumper winch combo is an engine hoist ;)

I hear you on the cruiser gym as well as no pictures of bottle jacks in non native environments. (Spring pack for instance)

Very quick update today. I got a this....whatever this is...

two pieces, 1x1 aluminum sq tube. Its very light. Rear section would allow use of 2nd row, and front section replaces 2nd row. Now to determine what I'll skin it with.

Starboard! 3/8 or maybe even thinner depending on how the bowing goes. Those cross braces in the middle should really help. I'd skin the top only, and build some pullout drawers for the bottom.

By the way, if you made that I'd like one. If you had someone make it, I'd like to know the price because that's badass...

I have some sheet metal from a cabinet i was thinking of using, but it may be a bit thin. I may use it on the sides. I'll prob skin the top in some good, quality ply. Would love to use aviation plywood, more layers of better wood and adhesive, but that stuff isnt cheap.

The bottom will stay open underneath. I "think" the orange cases will fit. will measure tomorrow if it ever stops raining.

I'll also sort out the way to secure it to the factory seat mounting holes as well. I think threaded turnbuckles should work.

I'll pm you the builder info.

quick update, and request for info.

I've had the truck parked due to excessive fuel smell under the hood after driving, and poor gas mileage.from running rich.

Here's what I've done so far:
New OEM fuel cap
New AC Delco charcoal cannister, and hoses to and from cannister.
All vacuum lines were replaced when I had the head swap done last year.
New fuel filter was installed at time of head swap. I have not seen fuel leaking, so I assume the retired toy tech didnt mess it up.
EGR is using a resistor, with components still installed(no p0401 or p0402 codes).

Before I start throwing parts at it, where would the next common parts failure be?
Vacuum control valve?
Vacuum switching valve?
check valve?
pressure regulator?

I'm going to check all the vac lines to see if I can find a leak.

Attached are a pic of the vac hose routing diagram, and the huge mud robber nest that was built on the harmonic balancer. the huge wasp or yellow jacket nest that was built between the grille and ac cooler. Both of those got my attention REALLY quickly. LOL.

My engine coolant temp sensor crapped out recently causing open loop only and poor mpg but no smells and it also threw a code. 125 i believe. So sorry, not much help. The cap, cc and lines would have been my next suggestion but youve covered those already.

Id check the lines around the regulator and gas filter first.

Finally got some health, motivation, and weather together for a little bit of work. Skinned my aluminum frames with 1/2 inch birch ply, and laid on some spar varnish. only skinning the top. Still very light weight. the two pieces will bolt together for strength.

I'll be able to use the smaller piece in the gx470 when I need to tote several sailboats to events.

Took the afternoon off, and dug into the transmission wiring to try to resolve an intermittent p0773 code. Used contact cleaner and dielectric grease on all the connectors on the transmission, and then went for the two connectors above the starter. what a pain(literally). Ended up removing the drivers side tire, starter, trans dipstick tube, and used a half a can of contact cleaner getting the caked in mud to get the connectors loose enough to open up. then used a bunch more cleaning the contacts inside. dielectric grease and buttoned those up.

gave the drivers side brakes a quick once over, and will be ordering an axle rebuild kit, along with prep for front and rear brakes. I've not done them on this truck yet, so I'm open to suggestions for rotors and pads(oem or aftermarket rotors, and some flavor or 100 series pads up front). I've got a set of new akebono rear pads in a box, but I can send those back.

Last item was to swap out the arb awning mounts for a set of front runner awning mounts. Lowers the awning flush to the rack.

I vote OEM rotor. EBC 80 series green pads up front. I’m pleased with the setup.

where did you source your rotors? local or shipped?

I picked mine up at Fred Anderson when I was frequenting rdu but call Phil at vann york. He will do you right.

@stevezero I might still have a set of NIB OEM rotors. Won’t be home to look for a couple days, so remind me if I haven’t texted you.

thanks John. autoanything.com had a good sale and additional coupon code, so I grabbed a set of ebc smooth rotors and green pads all the way around.

Wile E. at your service

So, how was your day??? This about sums up mine. Could only get once side down. mud packed in the caliper from PO shenanigans. new caliper, rotor, pads, brake shoes, spring kit. had a leak on the new caliper, banjo bolt washer wasnt sealing down. trip to the parts store for more washers. I'll double check that its dry in the morning, and hopefully knock out the other side.
