Really, there aren't many vehicles out there engineered for a third world lifecycle, sold into a first-world market, with few if any major mechanical changes. These things certainly are beasts. Now, I think you need to take a few weeks and vacation in
Arizona to properly dry the vehicle. If there's any moisture in it anywhere, a week or so in the desert will pull it out at the molecular level.

Man I believe you and that sounds like what I need. Just got to find the time to take a road trip out there, I live in Arkansas. The only thing I'm worried about is my engine control module glitching halfway into the road trip leaving me stranded and forcing me to tow it all the way back. I think I'm going to put a few hundred miles on it here in town before I commit to any long-distance travels. The dealership tested it with their diagnostic computers and said everything is fine but better safe than sorry!:)

Don't respond to this, not trying to get off the topic, but insurance certainly will cover that sunken Cruiser. As long as you carry Comprehensive coverage. It doesn't matter that you were off road.

14.99 foam pad from wholesale club and a hour or so of time. Waiting on some velcro that attaches to carpet. Also going to experiment with heat to see if this stuff will mold.

Wow. That's a big load. How did she do?
She did really well, the turbo diesel seems to love a big load like this! Compared to my other car I use for towing (1976 F250 with a 351 Cleveland) is like chalk and cheese. The 100 just has lots more torque low down, right where you need it. The highway back to my house has a long steep hill, usually I would be down to around 40 mph, the cruiser held steady at about 60 mph so it did it easy. A lot less fuel consumption and far more comfier as well!

Since buying my 100, my brother has been eyeing it off, he tows a drag car as well using an old F100. His budget didn't extend to a turbo diesel (they are usually about $10k more than the equivalent 100 series in petrol configuration). He managed to find an 03 LX 470 with 240k km advertised for $19900. Had a chat with the guy and offered him $15500 which the guy accepted. The only drama being that he was in Sydney and we're in Adelaide. So we went for a road trip on the weekend, flying to Sydney to pick it up and bring it back. We stopped off on the way back to buy a camper trailer I'd been looking at, did a great deal with that guy as well. Drove 4 hours from picking the car up, hooked the camper up then headed the 1400km home.

The LX is certainly a nice car to cruise in, albeit thirsty and lacking a little bit of the low torque of my diesel up the hills.

@XAlent that's a gorgeous pic with the rainbow in the back ground!

Looks sweet 2000 LC! I like the at2's and plan to buy some 295s eventually :)

Klaus, it looks like the driveline angle/vibes must be so bad...he runs without the front driveshaft. Gotta love it.

Wow, that's some attention to detail!!!! How did you see that driveshaft missing? I'm here staring at the screen after 2 glasses of wine and saw nothing 'till you pointed out!

Also have to love that high quality drag link that appears out of nowhere near the passenger side knuckle ....

I'm sorry. No one in Colorado had these plates. I went for it. Hope I didn't violate protocol.

And be careful, the high country is a ways off. The Xterra to the left didn't even have a chance to get plates on. Didn't roll. Don't know who's it is. Been there a few days.
