nice truck, happy kids, great pics, amazing scenery

(and big wheels :) )

Thank you. :)

nice man , what size is your camper ? 20' or 22'
do u have problem towing with LX ? im hinking to get a 22 footer

Thank you. My travel trailer is 24'. Gross dry weight is about 4,300#. As it seats with all camping gear, it had an extra 800#. The LX did wonderful. As long as you have equal weight distribution plus a Sway control hitch, you should be all game. :)

jon how much to those weigh?? I know we are not good on gas mileage but what was the hit once you went with these?? I se the trailer and you usually have lots of gear what is the MPG? Mostly concerned with range of vehicle with the available tank and maybe a few extra gallons on back. thanks

I have not weighed them yet but will try to take the spare off in the coming days and put it on a scale. They are heavier than the 35s on 18" alloys i've handled. I notice the power loss primarily at low speeds, >55mph. At highway speeds they seem to be fine unless I am climbing. Handling is significantly worse on highspeed gravel/dirt roads. I am planning a Baja trip in a couple of years and will be running the 33s on 18s or 35s on 18s. For low speed these things are amazing. The grip, and performance in the rocks and loose shale was beyond expectations last week. Places where I have used lockers with the BFG ATs, I walked up with no ATRAC engagement with the Nitto's. I ran the tires at 16 front and 18 rear for most of the weekend which seemed perfect. I started at 20/22 and it was way too much. I think a good moderate speed pressure would be 18/20.

I have not calculated a hit on mileage yet. I don't have a scangauge and have not checked via GPS. I got an indicated 10.5 on the way to Ouray with my trailer in tow, total weight truck and trailer is ~9500. I typically average an indicated 12. How much of that difference is based on different tire size math I don't know.

As far as rubbing goes, we really cycled the suspension hard ina few spots. I am only getting rubbing on the pinch weld behind the front tire and a little bit in the upper fender well during a hard hit. Some hammering and a set of Timbren Bump Stops (or an Air Bump, hint hint Slee) should take care of that. I'm not getting any rubbing in the rear. 1" Spacers in the rear, 1.25" up front.

Some pics that really show the 35s.

35s on all but 1 truck. I think we had 10 sets of 35s at the 100s in the Hills. All varieties, all did well.

Tad bit off camber here, coming down the steep falls section of Black Bear Pass just before the first switchback (left).

I told the kiddo to bail, double checked that the TC was in low, eased off the brakes, then focused on the drivable surface ahead of me.

As opposed to focusing on how the heck to cook a frozen pie in the mountains....:flipoff2:
