Drove the white rim this week. Amazing weather and good conditions. I picked up this LX470 last summer so I could get off the beaten path. Over the past few months I added storage, rack, Bluetooth, Slee sliders and new Toyo AT3s. I know WR isn’t super technical but my truck walked every obstacle.
Big shout out to Dave at Land Shark. I needed a replacement part and he hooked it up! Another shout out to @REZARF for being spiritual guide to the cruiser world.

As a one time VW guy, nice speedo.

I'm definitely putting White Rim on my list next time I'm making my way to Colorado!

Hey! I'm planning on doing White Rim next year. Any suggestions / intel in terms of how many days I should allow (camping along the way assuming camping is allowed)? How long does it take to complete at a relatively leisurely pace? TIA!

Awesome. You will dig it. I’ve been out there 5-6 times and every time it is a new and wonderful trip.
First- scope the permit system on rec.gov. NPS justchanged to this system for permits /reservations.
You can do it in as little as two days with one night out but expect a lot of windshield time. I averaged about 10mph this time around. Airing down helps a lot. There is a lot of slick rock shelves that is pretty bumpy at full pressure. In my opinion, two nights is pretty casual and three nights allows for some of the hikes accessible from the WR road.

Awesome feedback! Thanks a ton, this is really helpful. Sounds like I'll plan for at least 2 nights!

It appears to have a vacuum booster too...
I was told the airbox was GCC spec change. Larger air bix for dust and sand. Tire carrier is very strong and seems over built. I looked in to brake booster when someone pointed it out on another site. I'm new to LC and didn't realize it was different. I checked and it is a factory piece for my frame number. All has been great with it except for working through small leaks. Steering rack small leak and tore boot is up next. For now keeping all 100% stock and may try to export it home with me to the US in 3-4 years. I haven't seen any others with the front bumper piece mine has. Not sure I'll keep it unless it was from Toyota.

2 nights would be ideal at minimum imo. We did 3 but camped at Shafer which is like mile 0 on the trail otherwise you have to drive to th on day 1. The scenery is great the whole time and it's nice to just wake up and drive to a new campsite - not having to leave trail. It's like a backpacking trip in your car. Labyrinth b had great views of Colorado. Also heard white crack is excellent site

Which bluetooth setup did you go with and how do you like it? How well does it work with outbound and inbound phone calls, as well as playing other audio. Does it integrate with the oem phone system?

What size Toyos?

I got a VAIS. Replaces CD function and works pretty well. Sound is good, but defaults to starting on same song every time you start the truck, like it might if you had a CD in the player. Not perfect but a big step up from stock. It does not integrate with oem phone system. But, for $200ish it was a good upgrade.

285/65R18. No lift, AHC intact. Couldn’t be happier with these tires. Quiet enough on the highway at 80 mph, great performance on trail. No rubbing. I had the previous AT2 version on my last truck and they were 1/2 tread at 40k miles.
