been away from the boards quite a bit lately but i'll update this thread in a bit.

Tried lots of great new beers but didn't take too many pics so most of them will be my weekly office beer friday I hold in my personal office for the rest of the office. New tradition I started with my boss a few weeks back.

A few from last month.

Japanese craft brewers can make some damn awesome stuff. I'd only seen some in NC. In WA we do get some more but not as much as the great selection you get in Vegas for some reason. I had the IPA from this company in Vegas a few years back.... one of the best easily.

Awesome gift I got from a great friend..... a beer bottle that turns into a beer mug for camping/hiking
Enjoying some Double Jack IPA from Firestone Walker in there.

We went to Sierra Nevada in Ashville last night. Son, if you haven't had a stout aged in bourbon barrels, a new world awaits you. We had barrel aged Raincheck and barrel aged Narwhal. If you're lucky, you might find Raincheck in the store, but not the barrel aged. I was excited and asked to fill a couple growlers, but was told barrel aged aren't allowed in growlers. I was madder than Jeremy at a Trump rally. I settled for a 10 oz glass, but at 12.9%, that was plenty.

Found a nice Hefe
Agree, I like the Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier. It's not sold here, but if you know anyone going through Germany, have them get the dunkel version of the same. It's simply the dark, a much more robust flavor. Trader Joe's has one, and while it isn't quite as good as the Franziskaner, it's close enough to enjoy it.

The Dunkel is around. At least it is in CLT.

Since I'm not an IPA drinker, I've been very disappointed with Westbrook Brewery. However, a new brewery opened about 6 weeks ago, just down the street from Westbrook on Longpoint Rd. 4 fellows from Mt Pleasant, formally home-brewers, took their hobby to a part-time job...named Ghost Monkey. Every beer we had there was better than any beer I've had from Westbrook (Ok, Mexican Cake is good, but I'm just not paying $35/22oz bottle). Ghost Monkey tap room has a laid back feel, you can even bring your dog, but no food. They'll fill 64oz growlers for $13-17. My favorite was the nitro stout, named Gingermade, but their #1 seller is an IPA. There's another small brewery down the street called 2 Blokes, I'll get around to it next weekend because I've also heard good things. No food there either, but they have food trucks outside on the weekends.

Many of my bicycling friends have been frequenting 2 Blokes and Ghost Monkey.

Maybe a 12-24 hour advance notice "open invite" is in order? Beer is better with Cruiser company...

I tried a red wine barrel aged draft at Holy CIty on Saturday... Would not suggest it unless you like wines. I was blinded by the SN barrel aged Narwahl experience, that @Beau Diddly spoke of.

Cruiser company definitely adds at least one star to beer rating. Someone tag the social chairman to set-up an outing.

I like wine, but I'm not sure about wine barrel aged beers. Now bourbon barrel aged beer like SN's Narwahl or Raincheck, son, that's a journey. Just remember to stop at one, or someone else will have to drive you the rest of that journey.

Yeah, we need to have a Cruiser Call at one of the two, or both, in September.:bounce:Weekend of 9/9?

If we hold it Saturday the 10th, it might turn into an Uber after-party. But I like your thinking. I'd be down for an earlier tasting, so we can both be home for kickoff...
