attempted to enter at the bottom of the naneum watershed, locked gate there At end of naneum rd. Big sign. Official gate. Took the next water shed north, Wilson creek Road. As I was airing down a horse trailer came out. That was the last vehicle we saw for three hours. Wilson creek road had no mud, but had obviously been a mud hole for a couple miles straight earlier in the season. Lots of deep ruts, made me glad to be on 35s. Eventually the crappy private road gave way to the National Forest road which was smooth, well maintained And I think rarely visited. We had lunch over looking naneum canyon, and spent a lot of time following spur trails trying to bridge over to the naneum trail system. No luck, the one overgrown cart path we found to be promising was blocked by deadfall.
on to plan 2, back in the fr35 network, we headed to the naneum meadow area, and found a spot.
today we had a nice hike above Haney meadow. Interesting to see the same area a few weeks later with taller grass and no mud.

Saw one convoy of about 10 wheelers pulled over to look at a vista. There was a 45 with them. Mostly jeeps. One new fj too.
over the entire weekend of 45 miles dirt, less than 20 car or trucks, two sidexsides, and three motorcycles. These clustered on Fr35 around lion rock. The rest of the roads empty.

Fiddling with rotopax and a 5lb propane tank mount. I built a pax and Trax mount a while back, but never ended up using it as it wasnt quite right. I think this version, with the large pax plate, is more viable. I had to rotate 180" to use the other side of the post post for propane, so can only mount 1 pax. Trax are headed to roof.

Do you ever get hassled by law enforcement for blocking your taillights?

Found a rhino rack batwing at Amazon warehouse. Rated as acceptable. Took a chance. Box was truly wrecked, awning appears to be unopened or used. Haven't unfurled yet and hoping no surprises.
Made some Brackets for the stock rack from scrap 1 1/2 3/16 angle to adapt to the stock batwimg brackets.
Just angle iron, a drill press and an angle grinder.
Learned on last brackets to do all fab and then cut apart, much easier to work on a 7" piece than 3.5.
Here with the etch coat. Red goes on tomorrow.

We've been getting grocery delivery, often they'll include 'cold bags' which are metallized bubble wrap. I spent an hour with duct tape and three of these bags and made a cover for the little fridge.
New power numbers:

1155 min used 38% (62% showing on display). New 90% utility cycle with insulation bag is 45.6 hours, up 14.5 hours on the uninsulated figure. Same setpoint, and same amount of kombucha and beer in the fridge.

Pretty good improvement for free+time.
When you say 90% duty cycle, you mean your fridge is running 90% of the time and off 10% of the time? I took a stop watch to mine and timed when it clicked on and off, after a few cycles I was averaging 60/40 on/off.

Nice work on the insulation!

Nice! Where did you buy the mount for the 5lb propane tank?

Sorry that wasn't clear, I meant the amount of hours that would leave the battery at 10% charge left. Probably a reserve like this isn't necessary for LiFePo4, but I'm new to the chemistry and being cautious.

The reddening is complete. Assuming the carriage bolts get here soon, should have it mounted tonight. My youngest likes to paint in red it turns out.

Had to drill out my bracket holes a bit more to fit the 3/8” carriage bolts. Was able to get an 8mm and 6mm on the rhino rack bracket. Good enough.
Mounting pretty straight forward, fits good, not a lot of latitude where you put the brackets, minimum distance is 27” apart, I got them about 29”.
2” angle would be a better fit for sure.
Pics of test fit.

One big difference for rototrax from the other trax I have is the mounts are 17.5” apart, instead of around 30”. More roof rack flexibility for sure. Dlx handles make very secure mounts. Easy to tension.

^That's exactly what I want to do. Thanks for showing us the way!

I’m hopeful it’ll work well. No need for the mount, in this application, handle works great paired with the aero bar mount.
