I carry my shield in a leather holster on my hip. It has option of IWB or OWB which is perfect because I can were it with pants or with shorts. get what you are comfortable with and train with that.

I carry OWB with leather and I really do not care if it prints. Never felt any comfort with IWB. I work on my property and only carry when I leave so I never really get all that comfortable any way. Like John said, it can be a rabbit hole, especially if you are chasing a comfort level that you may not ever attain.

Maybe I am just used to carrying becasue I have never felt any discomfort what’s so ever. But I conceal carry in the same way I open carry when I am working. I don’t like options and I don’t like changing things around. With this type of stuff I deal lime it’s better to do the same thing all the time to create that comfortable feeling and muscle memory when training. Just my two cents.

Being a fella of some rotundness, IWB carry isn't really an option for me, as it's really uncomfortable and quick access isn't happenin'. So, for me it's either OWB (which is difficult unless I'm wearing a jacket) or pocket carry, which is by far the easiest and most comfortable for me. The only issue is it really limits me on what I can carry.

I'm no fan of shooting my Ruger LCP, but it's super light for pocket carry. I'm thinking of moving up to the G43. I'm sure I'd much rather shoot it than the LCP, but I guess I should try it out before deciding. I just know I LOVE my G19. The only issue is size/weight for pocket carry. The LCP has a 2.75" barrel and weighs only about 13-14 oz. loaded. It virtually disappears in my pocket and I barely know it's there. The G43 has a 3.4" barrel and weighs 20.6 oz. loaded. Quite a difference, but I'd go from .380 to 9mm (same size bullet, but more power and I wouldn't have to worry about stocking .380) and would go to a platform that I know I enjoy shooting. Granted, the G43 is a little different, being a sub-compact single-stack 9mm, so I guess I don't know until I shoot it.

@Fort Knox G43 all day long in your scenario. It feels better in my hand. Me, I have pocket carried a Beretta Bob Cat for over a decade everywhere I go. Small caliber but it’s always with me.

Great feedback; THANKS! I chose the P365 because of the capacity but if I can't carry it comfortably I'm afraid I'll just leave it at home for some trips. At that point, I'd rather have something rather than nothing. I have a baby Browning I could pocket carry but worried about .25 for self-defense. I'll keep tinkering with it and hopefully find a suitable solution... I have some time.

I am in LOVE with the new Glock 45 (9mm). The 19 grip is just too short for my paw; the 45 (19x) fits like a glove and I like the shorter barrel/slide over the 17. I think that's what will ultimately replace my S&W .45 beside my bed. I've never tried the sub-compact Glocks but I just don't think I could get a hand on one. In fact, I can't use my P365 without the extended 10rd or 12 rd mags.

Have you tried the LCP II? Trigger is much better than the LCP and hence more accurate (for me at least). On another note, I went back to my favorite gun shop last week and they were completely sold out of 9mm. The shop guy told me they sold a whole year's supply in about 3 days.

@Pick the glock 26 or 27 can have a pierce plus 1 and meaty hands can work everything. That’s my iwb back up to the bob cat.

I have not tried it. The trigger on the LCP does suck, but what I really don't like is how snappy it is with such a small handle. It's a trade-off.... If you want a really small, light pistol for CC in a caliber that's at least the minimum usefulness, it's gonna be snappy. I really should change it out, because when I do practice shooting (which is not nearly as often as I'd like), I always shoot my other pistols, never the LCP, which is bad.

Here you go @Fort Knox for your pocket carry...

Interesting. So.....I throw it at the assailant? :grinpimp:

I get what they're going for, but seems like the extra complexity when you need it most wouldn't be worth the extra comfort to carry. I assume it still weighs the same, if not more.

Agreed, I had seen it a while ago at my local range and thought it was pointless. When I saw your post of pocket carry just had to dig it up and say you needed one.
I can see it now.. trying to rush and fiddle with opening it up then rack a round. Throwing it just might be the better option

Have you shot the LC9? Its slightly bigger than the LCP

and 9mm is a good bit cheaper than .380 (well before the Rona)

I'd definitely like to make the switch from .380 to 9mm, for multiple reasons.

I have not shot the LC9. Looking at the specs, it's slightly smaller than the G43, but not much lighter, maybe an oz. or so. I guess the best idea is to just try them both out and see which one I like more.

I have a Shield with extended grip and Aliengear Tuck 3.0 IWB. The first time I wore it I hated it. Installing the holster took 10 minutes of fidgeting and it felt like a 10lb brick constantly pushing my pants down. I've worn this combination a lot more since then and prefer a 330 position. Wearing it feels almost comfortable now.

I'm still on the search for a OWB that I can grab and go. The Alien still takes 30 seconds to a minute to install and get lined up perfectly.

My $0.02. For EDC, I just need something to get me out of a situation. I'm not looking for a show stopper. For 90% of situations, just the sight and sound of a single shot will end the encounter. I have other weapons that go in vehicles on extended trips, etc.

For a true EDC, comfort with the weapon is key. If your not comfortable with it or how its carried, then it will get left at home or in the car and does you no good. So if that means a .22Mag Derringer in your front pocket, then so be it. I currently pocket carry a kimber micro9 in a Uncle Mikes holster. Works for me in khakis and a dress shirts. Have tried a number of tuckable iwb holsters but front pocket generally is where the EDC goes.

Sneaky Pete OWB with an untucked shirt is about all I am up for anymore. For when I don't care if people see me carrying a "1990s BlackBerry phone in a cool leather case." I really just use it as a case for my glock, though, since I no longer have CC and don't leave the house much anyway.

Fobus paddle holster for a glock 27 takes two seconds to put on for my owb. Had it since early 2000’s

TORT Thread worthy - I was at Academy Sports today. The only handgun cartridges they had were a few boxes each of .40 and 38 Special shot shells. Rifle ammo was better but not by much. There was a line of 6 people waiting on the salesman at the counter to talk firearms. I browsed and listened for 5 minutes while a gray haired lady harangued the clerk about why she should want a gun. She was obviously there to argue. The clerk spent the entire time trying to steer the conversation towards the enjoyment of target shooting. The lady eventually got tired of him not falling for her crap and left. I have no clue how long she had been there before I noticed her. Who in the hell would think it's a wise and safe use of time to go into a retail store in this pandemic simply to waste people's time trying to further their own agenda?

FWIW, Shields and revolvers and a few Glocks and a few miscellaneous pocket guns were the selection today. Matthews, NC location.
