She grew up in Florida. She was well cared for by her owners. She was well-maintained and serviced appropriately. Some interesting things had occurred along the way. Like new carpet from a 94 Land Cruiser was installed. Additionally cloth seats were installed to replace the aging leather seats.

Purchased in July 2019 from a good friend in Gainesville.

Here are the plans:
  1. Cladding removal
  2. Flare removal
  3. Cross member removal
  4. Weld all holes up
  5. Body work, make it perfect
  6. Full 100% repaint. Desert Dune Pearl
  7. 4X clear coat
  8. ARB front & rear Bumpers, flares, sliders, roof rack painted Atlantis Blue Mica
  9. Install bumpers, sliders, flares, etc.
  10. Begin interior
  11. TBD
  12. Shnell-mann seats in front?
  13. Icon lift?
  14. 35” tires?
  15. ARB Drawers
  16. Dual battery setup
  17. ARB OBA?
  18. Long Range replacement tank @wardharris ?
  19. Long range sub tank
  20. Armor up
  21. Steel & Kevlar reinforced door panels. I love my current ones
  22. Huper Ootik tint all around
  23. Soundproofing all interior
  24. More I’m sure.
First order of business is to take off bumpers, flares, cladding. They will be available for parts soon.

Next up is weld all of the holes from cladding, etc.

Next will be completing the body work and making it perfect. Then taking off foor panels, handles, lights, etc. to prepare for paint. Going with a new color is lots of extra work.

I hope to get her into paint this week. In the meantime A LOT of ARB stuff arrived. Front and rear bumpers, jerry can holder, tire carrier.

Picked up new flares and they’re in the paint process now.

Busy start to this build.

I made steel door panels back in 2015. I offered them for sale but it’s a high price. So, with this build I took existing panels and added Kevlar front and back. Next I added a poly blend layer. Finished off with Secondskin. Super quiet, reduced heat, bolt anything you want to the door, and other benefits. Headed to the range this Saturday to see how one does. I’m not sure what to expect. It’ll stop a 22 I’m confident, not holding my breath for much more.

Make sure your not inside when they shoot :p

The title says “desert dune” but the bumpers and flares have been painted a blue color?

Cruiser will be repainted Desert Dune with Atlantis Blue Mica for bumpers, sliders, flares, and roof rack sides.

Sorry to sound thick why would you want built proof does on a cruiser thats used in the USA. Is the gun crime that bad these days?

Nice! Looking forward to how this turns out. Subscribed to see what route you go with suspension. I keep second guessing myself on Icons or kings.

My intention is solely sound proof, better cooling, better acoustics, and a solid panel that isn't cardboard and will last another 20 years. In the end adding the other items was just a crazy idea really but if it works, that's cool. By no means was it the original intended reason though.

Hey Dale, yea, suspension. It's a hard choice. There are no plans to regear and I don't plan on using anything bigger than 35's. It's Florida but I want to build it for use anywhere. OME has always been reliable for me. Dobinsons...well their donbinsons, they're OK. I'm more likely to go with IKON or Kings. I could go BP51's but after driving a cruiser with them, I'm not sure. To be continued...

LOL, its a cool additional thing.

BMWS and Benz had protection packages in the early 2000's(Almost bought a 7series a few years back that happened to have it), not sure if its still an option for the normal person these days.

I had no idea. That’s cool to know

So are these the door cards or actual replacement panels for the steel doors themselves?

Sorry if I am dumb, it runs in the family...
