My company allows us to take 2 days off a year to do community service so today I ended up doing Habitat for Humanity. Had a great time spending time with other co-workers painting the interior of both units of a duplex.

Nice!

Basement flooded yesterday with the rain. We got a few inches into the finished basement. :o Can't rip anything out until the insurance adjuster comes to look at it. Its probably not going to be covered.

Looks like I won't be getting any work done on the Cruiser for a while. :frown:

Toyota called me. They are now starting to work on my Tundra, I dropped it off for a frame inspection 6 MONTHS AGO.

Well, they are putting in a new frame, and I took advantage of the truck being off the chassis to upgrade and fix several nagging issues.

New Timing belt and water pump, while the motor is on a pallet, it will be WAY less money to do the belt. It was due at 105K, is at 108 and it is an interference motor. Figured I should get it done.

I had two of 4 O2 sensors pull a code about 6 moths ago, they were bad. Dealer wanted $125 per, there are 4 to replace, I bought them from amazon as pluyg in direct fit densos for $75 ea front, $60 ea rear.

Shocks and struts were original, and were rusting through. They were probably OK, but they are tossing the rears on for free, and the fronts for just the time to swap coils. New shocks from the dealer were $125 ea - She will be sporting Bilstein adjustable 5100's all around for 95 per in front and 75 per in the rear.

I have had a crack in the left exhaust manifold since I bougth it years ago, facotry manifolds are $200 ea, (and WILL crack again)- I ordered a set of SSautochrome shorty headers for $175 for the pair. They also shipped me a new y pipe for no extra cash. Putting in new OEM gaskets so they don't leak.

The dealership called today to inform me that my catalytic had been cut out with a sawzall by vandals, as had many others on the lot, and toyota is putting in a brand new one for free under their insurance.

New sway bar links, and a few other little things.

Most stuff is going to be free on the rebuild of the truck, I am only paying labor on the sensors, timing belt and front shocks. They allowed me to buy all the parts online or with my discount at the dealer, and just waited until all the parts were in.

Running total for me, parts and labor - should be around $1400 +/-
Running total for toyota so far:
Frame $7500
6 month Rental Car Charges $7000
Catalytic guesing around $600
Labor to swap frame and parts $3000

They will be into my Tundra for 18K easy, when it is worth 8K on the open market.

I love my tundra, and guess I will have it for many years to come.

I have a scheduled date to go in front of the Board of Selectmen in Norfolk, MA about re-zoning a building in town so I can start up a wine, beer, and specialty food shop. If it goes through then I have to go before a town meeting in September so the town can vote. The townspeople have bucks and all the wine stores are horrible plus there's a commuter rail stop.

Fingers crossed that it will work out. If it does happen, I'll need to either sell the pig or trade it for a daily driver FJ40. The proposed store location is only 2.5 miles from home so it'll be nice to have a 40 as a commuter plus I'll be doing some deliveries around town in it. Having an overbuilt 55 in front of a cutesy wine shop won't really work. A nice, stock FJ40 will go perfectly with the place and also go with my certain lack of money for the next few years. Plus not having a car payment will be nice. Keep an ear and eye out for potential trades (no projects obviously)

Dunno if this will work out but I have a gut feeling it will. Sounds like a stressful but simple life. Anyone who is a lawyer or business advisor type, I'm all ears.

Hows the turbo build? Been trying to get up and check it out but these 70 hour work weeks are a grind.

Slow but continuing. I might have to have the manifold machined a little so the compressor housing has more clearance from the engine mount. Not a big deal but I need to get that thing installed and make sure what I do is not going to make other problems with the down pipe and such.

Good luck. If it works, I would gladly give up some of my cash for some good beer from another cruiserhead.

Well my appearance in front of the selectmen for my new wine shop has been cancelled since the landlord with whom I had a verbal agreement with decided to rent the building to a chiropractor. Not surprised as I never thought this would be easy.

That said, I think my cruiser stuff is gonna have to go for now to raise some cash for the new store. We'll see if anyone will trade or not for the 55, M101 and a winch. I'll keep updating as things come along. Either going to sell for cash (doubtful) or trade for a DD.

Watched a survival show taking place in Botswana today. Host pulled the GRILLE out of his FJ-45 to GRILL wildebeast meat over an open fire. I was both astonished and upset at the same time.
