Stuck on a 55. Need something I don't have to lift my wife and kid into every time we go someplace. Lowering means different springs, selling and buying tires, steering re-do, etc. Not sure I have the time to do all that. But, the truck does run great and I've worked out almost all the bugs

Not knowing anything about the stage coach suspensions, why can't you just put the axles back under the springs from which they came?

X2 on what Dave said, get an 80, put on a OME low lift, slap on some 33's and have some fun.

The springs are very flat so would be far too low if I put them back SUA. I'd need to buy 2.5"-4" lift springs which need to be custom cuz nobody really makes any. Doubt the 35's will fit at that point either.

Can't do an 80. I do like them but I really enjoy loud, smelly, uncomfortable trucks. I have an antique house that's full of antiques. I like the older trucks much better. If I didn't drive so much in my line of work then I'd get a 40 as a commuter

hello every one i have bin reading but havent piped in, well want to ask my 40 looks naked without a yankee toys sticker wondering where to get one :)

See Sporin, but you have to know the secret handshake to get one.

The only difference IIRC between 55 and 40 axles is sway bar provisions. A set of axles would be cheap or free, stock springs with a 2" long AAL (for ride height) and a mild shackle. You are into it for maybe $300? Stock arms should come with arms, so you just need tie rods and ends? Worst case is a set of 60 springs and relocated hangers.

Sell or trade the 35's, not too hard to find people with 33's or 31's who would trade straight for 35" tires.

Way cheaper to bring yours back around if you trust it now.

Randy, that's amazing. This is my '72 in '80 or so. Kinda why I don't have high expectations from used Toyotas.

Found the 40 in Meredith NH from a nice old couple who used it to go to church in the winter, I believed them. Was $1900 at the time and in amazing shape except for the usual rust in the rear sill. Still had the plastic sleeves over the sun visors. Mowed about 250 lawns to get the thing.

I was searching for my first vehicle and was looking for a 40 or a Mini Cooper. Wonder what my off-roading would look like today if I picked the Mini back then.
