I'd like to learn how to do bodywork. I pulled the rear interior panels on the 55 and it looks way better than expected back there. Lotsa metal and not a ton of bondo. Far more optimistic on the 55 body I have now than I was yesterday.

I've looked at all the Adult/continuing Ed classes locally and it's all Sewing or Cake Baking. Anyone have any idea where I should start? No bodyshop is gonna want me sitting there asking questions and slowing everything down.

Teach a man to fish etc......

I just took a welding class at the local high school that has a votec program. It was a 40 hour class, and cost $300. We had the run of the whole shop, and could do any project we wanted. I used way more then $300 worth of their steel.
Good luck Al

I can attest to Albee's steel usage. :)

Albee, I will give wally a shout tomorrow about that nose cone. I will be seeing him soon.

We have an appointment to have the babys 9 month photos taken today. Its not that I mind going to have them taken. Its the hour and a half afterwards of my wife asking my opinion only to choose the opposite of what I suggest. All while I am trying to deal with a crying baby since she usually needs a bottle at some point during that timeframe.

Yesterday we spend the day and drive and hour and a half up to NH to her friends house for an Easter egg hunt with 50 midgets running around hyped up on sugar and caffine. Good times.

I need some time in the garage.

You might try what I did, stare at the wife eye to eye, show no fear and say

"why do you insist on torturing me with this s***, I don't care, fxxxing pick one!"

After that your garage time will be undisturbed, trust me.

HA HA HA sleeping in the garage...

Bought a welder today off of craigslist. It's a Firepower FP120. Got it and a helmet for $200. Had been used only 3 times. Looks brand new. Will be good to learn with

Similar to this one.

Firepower 14440304 - MIG Welder - 110 Amp 115V - FP120

Looking forward to burning myself and losing my vision. Gonna attempt to do the rusty sheet metal work on the 55 myself. Kina is going to do the rockers and the body mounts.

Eventually I'd like to buy a rusty 40 and re-do it completely. That'll be a few years from now once the 55 is done.

thought I was going to loose my hearing once. I was under my daughter's Camry patching the exhaust. I was working at a funny angle and a spark shot up and went right down in my ear. I could hear the wax sizzle. Be careful!

If you are going to do body work, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of shielding gas. You will not like how that thing welds without it. Funny, I called around today to get some pricing. For $125 you can pick up a 75cf cylinder (filled) from Corp Brothers in Providence.

Another thing to watch out with that machine is the low duty cycle. Looks like its 20% whcih means you can weld 2 minutes out of 10. If you go over the duty cycle ofen you it will weld chitty and will also damage the machine.
