My step son in is HI now, on business. We're watching the news closely, getting lots of text messages from him with updates.

Anybody else still not have power back from the storm? We haven't had power since about 7:30 pm on Thursday night. On generator now, I am officially sooooo glad I installed that thing now. Oddly, Metrocast cable suddenly started working around 1:00 pm today, so I'm using it now while I can, hope it stays up.

I watch as many fights as I can, Never been to a UFC event, Only some small local events, Good to see a new fan.

Went to the MMA fights last night thanks to Alex (SouthBostonfj) hada fantastic time.

I'm not an avid MMA fight fan but I was blown away by how exciting it was! The event was professionally put on like it was in Vegas. ButterBean and plenty of other people were there in the audience. The crowd was very laid back with no drunks, no fights in the stands, and no drama.

The fights were great including a total knockout for one guy in about 20 seconds. That was unbelievable to see in person. Some great fights, 10 in all.

Next event is May 28th or something like that. Definitely going again. Thanks Alex!

I huge thank you to Randy Elkin today for taking my Dad and I in and giving us a great lesson on the TRX and training in general at his Gym in Needham MA. While Randy taught me the basics on the TRX and reviewed my training plan with me a year ago after today I should have gone back sooner alot of good stuff and my Dad being new to the trx it was great for him to learn good form in the beginning. Those of you the subscribe to the diet thread or are trying to stay in shape or get back into shape just definately get in touch with Randy. again a big thank you for your time today.

Cruiser News I left Wilma with Mike Fox when I went to Hawaii for 2 weeks and picked it up on my way back from Randy's today. Mike solved some bugs and got it running pretty smooth I can cruiser at 65 mph pretty esily now I got a laundry list of little things to do but that seems to be the case always. I have one more day off before I have to go back to work so I hope to hit up some tommorow.

by leaving the lv at Mike's I also got him going on getting his 25 back on the road and more trail friendly then stock :)
Jason

Right back at you Jason, fun time with you and dad. Your dad is amazing at 77 and functioning like he's 50. I hope I'm in his kind of shape at that age.

good news on Wilma and Fox reigniting his interest in the 25. Should be fun to see that rig evolve.

TT came today, one of the best cover photos I think they've had. Now to check out the inside.

I got mine today too . this one had a good cover but I am still partial to the last cover :)

Hi Guys...sorry to crash your forum but I was looking for soem advice. I grew up in Weymouth but have lived in Fresno CA for the last 5 years. Since I moved here I have gotten into rock crawling pretty seriously. I have been out of work for a while though, the job market here sucks and I may have an opportunity at a job back there in Saugus. I have a few questions if you guys don't mind giving me your opinions. First thing is a good place to live around there? I was looking at a condo in Swampscott...but would really like to live in NH and commute down. Is that practical? The other thing is my rig, I have an 87 4runner that was built with trails like the Rubicon and Dusy-ersham trail in mind. Do you guys run stuff that tough back there, or would I be better off selling it out here and grabbing an fj-40 or nice 80 series to bring back? Could I even get my truck registered in MA with all the mods? Thanks for any ideas guys.

I wouldn't live in Suagus per-se but there are plenty of good towns up that way. Commuting to Saugus from NH is certainly do-able.

Odds are the 4 runner is not exactly legal for MA but there are always inspection places that will give you a sticker but not all of them. Gotta find the ones that don't care but MA is enforcing more and giving inspection stations incentives to get older cars off the road. NH is far more lax on lifts and mods than MA.

Move to NH, (you don't want to be a Masshole) bring the 4Runner, the trails are
tighter here, lots of trees to hit and usually it is pretty greasy out there.

Busy day today.

Ran 7 miles at 6 am. Drove to South Shore and looked at 7 houses. Sold my Pathfinder (on Craigslist for less than 24 hrs. Flipper lives!) Just cooked up some crabcakes and scarfed them down for an appetizer and am now cooking steaks with baked potato and some nice cabernet with wifey.

Hafta say I'm far more productive when I'm unemployed

I BBQ all winter long. Just takes a while longer!

Anyone ordering off SOR with their club discount anytime soon?? I have some small, stupidly expensive things to buy. Should a bought a Jeep.

ALSO!!!!!!!-------------->>>

I'd like some opinions on my 55 too, (feel free to flame on the flipper thing....)

My truck is trending in a direction that is way overblown for what I need it to be. SOA is way too high for the quick family trips and realistically all I wheel is the FG anyway. Worrying about inspections etc for the SOA will be annoying. I need more of a camping vehicle than a wheeling vehicle.

I've been trying to do the math. I want a more stockish truck with a 2-4" lift but original style rims and skinny tires. Something for more around town but can handle the stock trails at the FG. Do I take what I have and turn it back to the stockish rig I want or is it too far gone to go back? Going back would mean new springs, rims, tires, paint, bodywork, etc. I don't want it perfect though. All that will still add up to a lot of cash which I've already spent plenty on the 55.

Or....do I sell it and buy a 55 that is already stockish?

My engine has only 12k miles on it and it has AC (not working yet) but it does have some issues and won't be a snap to finish. More time than money needed.

The unknowns of a new 55 that I haven't owned makes me nervous.

If you were me, do you keep the 55 and put it back to stock or sell what I gots and buy a stockish one?

This one popped up on the 55 section and got me a thinkin.......

I can't say anything on your flipperness.... I'm nearly as bad.

I will say that I love my 80. A nice 80, mildly lifted on good AT's will handle the FG stock trails quite nicely while giving the family a comfy daily driver that you can expect reasonably modern levels of reliability with.

Unless you are stuck on 55's, which I understand as well.
