Strange, sad end to the day.

With 3 days left I was meeting with my almost-ex-boss so we could arrange how much time I will work for the company after I'm gone (10-15 hours per week is what I want, he wants me full time still).

Anyway, he ends by telling me he is laying off 2 of my coworkers. Good folks, who work hard, but don't fit into his "new plan" for the company.

It makes me feel sad and bad... here I am, jubilantly quitting so I can start by own business, with the company all but begging me to stay. While 2 folks who want and need their jobs get the axe.

{sigh}

my 2000 Tundra failed the frame inspection today. Cross member was junk, and there is a hole in the front wheel arch.

The dealership said that toyota national is reviewing it on a case by case basis, and that they would replace the frame or buy the truck, all I had to do was call and set up a file with toyota.

2.5 hours on hold later (on line 1, 1.5 on line 2) I talked to random phone message guy to set up a case file per my toyota dealer instructions. Seriously. 2.5 hours. Maddening.

Talked to the owner, a cruiserhead, btw, who said that the frame repair includes rear springs, lower control arms, brake lines, etc.

Not sure what is going to happen, but I urge anyone with a 2000-2004 tundra to get it checked out.

Word is that the buyout is not as tempting as the tacoma, probably just clean book, not clean book + 50%

a guy i work with had his taco frame replaced free...as you said..they replased alot of other things as well...Free...he was happy...and they gave him a loner matrix to beat-on till it was done...ahhh...i mean drive till his was done :)

went to Bratt and got my desk today, must weigh 500 lbs. Incredibly sturdy. Needs a paintjob but otherwise great.

Some of chord management to do, need to build some risers for the monitor and laptop, and need a real chair. But all in all, this is my new office.

thanks for the reminder. I drove down to my father's house in Leicester to check on his. Nothing rotted through but it's pretty damn thin in places. Basically the crossmember and the front gussets for the rear springs.

I told him to go talk with his dealer.

Needs a Cruiser calendar on the wall to make it perfect. (maybe a pic of the family too)

At about 2:30 today my buddy Russ calls me and tells me his nephew is out and stuck in the mud in his Jeep and needs a hand pulling it out. He was out with his girlfriend showing her what the jeep could do, they got stuck and had to walk out. About 20 minutes later we get a call that he has a friend coming a his Jeep Grandcherocar with a ratchet strap that they are going to use to pull him out. Russ tells him he is going to hurt himself and we'll be there shortly.

Long story short it took about 5 minutes to hook him up and pull him out. Got some video that I will try to post later.

Which vehicle did you use? I would think the Tundra but it could have gotten dirty. Maybe the Camry?

My 10 speed..................:hillbilly: I used the FJ45 of course. My buddy was going to try to get his Dodge Ram out there but there would have been pinstriped.

for some reason I thought the 45 was off the road. What the guys think of that?

Won't be long before the 45 is off the road for a rebuild :frown:. They guys were pretty impressed. Then starting asked all sorts of questions.

We have probably had a dozen with holes in the frames, toyota came out and inspected them and a few are still sitting at work. I guess they denied one of them because the guy was in today picking it up and was thinking on trading it in. All the tundra frames are gone, so I dont know if they are still going to replace them. They would have to go back to producing them.

City kids and their Jeep! Good thing Jason had a bad-ass winch!
