I have been on a quest for these super sweet IPA's that also have high ABV and high IBU flavors.

Well this one is the sweetest thing I have had - to include the Clown Shoes Josh the Guava King. It is too sweet, but still really worth a glass - went down pretty fast, despite my complaining :)

If by "sweet" you mean that juicy flavor without a hard bitter finish, I think New England is the place for you.

Too bad it comes along with such s***TY weather.

I'm talking everything from Hop Drop and Roll, from NoDa to Jai Lai to Clown Shoes stuff. Is that what you mean, versus "NE Style IPAs" ?? West Coast styles, but sweeter and sweeter?

NE IPA's are showing up everywhere down here as a style and I hate to say it, but I don't love them. They just seem blah to me like the old "American Pale Ales" but hazy and moderate alcohol content. I need to find some better brands, or admit that my palette has been ruined or . . . etc. :)

The breweries that I am trying NE IPAs from are probably like KC BBQ places serving "Carolina Style" sandwiches?

I am guessing the local NE breweries do NE Ales the right way?

However, a brewery that I consider pretty good (Revision) has a ton of new NE Style IPAs out and I may try them.

This year's Lagunitas Where's Waldo Special Ale seems better than the previous few years.

Hard to believe this, but it is creamier, less boozy and sweeter up front and more bitter on the end.

Waldos' Special Ale - Lagunitas

11+% ABV and 100+ IBUs.

There are plenty of breweries outside of NE that make good NE IPAs. Just like there are many West Coast styles made on the east coast. But NE ipas are like any style of beers there are many bad, many decent, many good, and few really great ones. To me a NE IPA is the new session IPA can be full of flavor and refreshing, the big difference is at the same time it can have a large ABV. I was disappointed in Sierra Nevadas hazy IPA as normally their stuff is gold.

Some good stuff - been saving cans to try to re-"shingle" my shed with the cans. . . .

Well I found the website this came from and its actually only a fraction of the pubs in the UK and missed quite a bunch in Scotland, for instance it is showing 0 on the Isle of Skye and i've been to at least 10 different ones on there myself. But if you have ever been to the North of Scotland you'd know it is very rural. Beautiful but you can drive quite a ways without seeing anyone at all.
