so it's not a 97
it's not a 40th or CE
did not even take the time to repaint center caps
cell phone holder screwed to console
aftermarket alarm and keys
no factory remote
wrong pads and rotors
but it has low miles, Good f-ing luck pal, 22k? more like 12k on its best day.

I emailed the dealer. He said they've already turned down an offer of 15k! They're expecting way more than 15 and he explained they knew the market very well and were priced accordingly. GLWS I guess, what the flip do I know, I drive a 100?

There is a no reserve 97 LC 40th annv on EBIZZLE looks really sweet. I might even place a bid. But in all of your Mud experience how high should I go. Here is the link
Actually no link but its a 97 with 140k no rust

Seems like a big price, then again they only have 1 to sale, therefore they only need 1 capable and willing buyer.

The rest of us are just opinion givers!!!

Very true! It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It will eventually sell to someone, I'd love to know for how much though.:hhmm:

It's worth what someone will pay for it, and just because a bunch of cheap skate mudders think its vastly overpriced and only worth 12k doesnt make it so.

I sold my 96' with lockers and 44k 7 months ago for $22k...I could of sold it for $20k 4-5 times...Dont ask, dont get regarding price as you can always go lower. He will get $18-20k for it if he waits long enough. Locked 80s with short miles arent out there. There are clean ones, locked ones, modded ones for less but what you can't clean, lock or mod is MILES.

I'm a licensed dealer as well and always get a good chuckle from arm chair QB's regarding a cars "worth".

I challenge anyone here to find a solid, locked 80 with under 65k and a clean history for $12k. If they find it, I will buy it and give the finder $1000 cash, no questions asked...

USDOT tracks well over 10% of "low mile vehicles" are in fact- odo rollbacks...............roll the dice- but without near new compression numbers tested by an independent party-----id be wary of ANY dealer.

As a dealer, I love when people spout off about the USDOT "tracking" this...as if they can put any kind of # on something like that. Not arguing that the DOT is saying it, just the logic behind the claims. As if you could just poll these felons and they'd come clean 1 out of 10 times....The reality is that the USDOT is basing their data (actual % is 3% of all vehicles) on CARFAX which makes it a joke...That is counting the ones where the dipchit doing a safety inspection accidentally wrote a 5 instead of an 8 or something like that. Put a 5 instead of an 8, well thats "rollback" to the DOT...Carfax is the biggest scam in the industry...If people think the Carfax is the end all to buying a vehicle, beware...you will get burnt sooner than later.

Rollbacks occur waaaaay more with individuals than dealers. No dealer I know will risk it, as they'll disclose it as TMU (true miles unknown) or miles exempt if there is even a question of it. Its the private parties and curb stoners that do the lions share of rollbacks, not dealers....Far too much at stake for a dealer to throw it all away over one car.

Also, look at all the morons on craigslist selling 30 year old rides with 5 digit odometers as "original miles"...yeah right, of course that sled has 31,122 original miles.

In short, dealers get a bad rap on stuff like this....a few bad ones ruin it for the rest of us.

Simmer down

Arm chair mudders are what make Mud the place for all things landcruiser and good company as well. I have learned more than I can list off of these posts and looking out for fellow mudders. So I'd say the dealers you represent just took a little hit with that last post. Take care everyone and still worth about 12k.

wncruiser speaks the truth. private sellers are way shadier than the dealers, BY FAR.

I dont fault the seller at all! Get what the market is willing to pay.

My Land Cruiser has spedo roll back per Carfax. I bought with 88261 miles the wife went off because it was not in her name also. Two days later she called me from DMV asking the mileage because she's putting both our names. I said 88000:doh: Carfax reports it as spedo roll back

With 100% positive after selling 1800 vehicles says something for the dealer.

Keep your panties on. A few of us "cheap skate" mudders don't think it's worth 22k. So what? Again, like I said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Not a penny less, or more. No need for the personal attacks on a few of us cheap skates who are armchair buying. Pump the brakes a little.

You guys confuse "worth" with "what I'd pay for it"...The 96' locked 80 with 44k I owned was bought for $5000. Thats what I paid for it. It sold for $22k, therefore thats what it was "worth". Big difference.

Take it easy Sally, didnt mean to rattle your cage. My point is that you can't come here to determine a vehicles "worth" as most in here are out of touch with reality regarding pricing. To determine "worth" one must base it on what they bring in the free market. Far more low mileage, locked 80's selling for $20k than $12k. You armchair guys love to just piss #'s in the wind based on the one your cousins cousin bought off craigslist after he borrowed $ from his grandmother. Back up your pricing with real data from transactions, not rubbish.
