Knowing that the 200 series is essentially dead and all but very few are sold, I went ahead and did a thing.......

Was gonna give you grief about moving to an IFS, but then thought- oh, wait...I’m on the gx forum. I’d also be a hypocrite, given my gx gets a ton more wheeling then my solid axle rig.
Nice looking 200

Lol!

I have been in all IFS trucks since I sold the Power Wagon and Super Duty back in 2018. Definitely makes for a much nicer ride on a daily basis but takes a back seat to that straight axle when off-road in the technical stuff, no doubt. For now these super reliable IFS rigs will do.

I got caught in the winter blast in NE Texas last night coming back from a weekend of goose/duck hunting in Arkansas. I ended up doing 20-30 mph on roads that I normally run 75-80 mph on for over four hours, it turned a normal nine hour trip into a 13.5 hour ordeal real quick lol. I have never had to go around so many downed trees and spun out vehicles in my life and I lived in the direct path of the eye of Hurricane Harvey lol. It's crazy how quickly an average winter storm can get out of control in an area that isn't equipped with the gear necessary to properly prep roads prior to such an event.

I was grateful to have such a capable and readily stocked vehicle to get through the weather and tackle the road conditions with ease while so many others were stranded or wrecked out on the side of the road. I have never had the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in snow and ice and after driving them through 5-6 hours of driven heavy, wet snow last night I can honestly say that they work quite well in that mess. My hunting partner who rode with me spent the majority of his life in Maryland and Pennsylvania and even he was blown away by the weather and road conditions.

A few pics taken on main highways along the way last night.

Another positive mark for the Ridge Grapplers!

I was hoping we'd get a little bit of that in the DFW area, but it only flurried for a short while with no accumulation north of Dallas. :(

We got some accumulation in Greenville but not a lot. Maybe ~2”.

Around Crockett we measured 8”.

Just gotta love the capabilities of our GX's! The reason I love the GX's over 4x4 trucks is the All-Wheel-Drive. When you're driving in and out of that stuff, you don't need to worry about constantly putting it into 4 wheel high and taking it out again as soon as you hit clear pavement.

Trying to plan the next phase of the build, I thought for sure I'd be adding a rear bumper by now but I am still not sold on any of the current offerings so I will continue to wait. The Goose Gear rear platform should be in here in the next few weeks so I am sure that the drawers will follow in the coming months. I am trying my best to keep my hands off of the LC for now so any input on what I should do next to keep me distracted would be appreciated lol.

I kinda feel the same bumper wise. After I manage to track down some king rear shocks it’ll probably be one of the next two purchases. The expedition one places the tire carrier exactly where I want it, I realized it doesn’t tuck up under the rear bumper much, if at all, and sticks out further than I’d like. I hate to go with the dobinsons, but at least they include extra lights in the bumper since the passenger rear is completely covered.

I hate that the Expo1 doesn't have an integrated hitch, leaving the OEM hitch is a clearance issue and I'm not a fan. Dobinon's isn't bad but it doesn't have an integrated hitch either and I don't care for how the spare sits outboard of the side of the GX. If forced to pick one today it'd likely be the LFD like @Washingtontaco ordered, my only complaint with it is the body line at the rear. There's something for me to nitpick on all of them but hey, if we are spending $3K+ we have the right to be picky IMHO.

Gonna want that bumper swap? LOL

Stand by, LFDs pictures are not the greatest. I plan to install mine prior to powder coating, see if any issues then off to powder coating.

Go on Instagram and check out the issues beauverland is having with the Dobinsons. He put out a video on his stories. Major flaws, that bumper does not work well with a 2014 and newer GX.

I just watched his posts/videos, what a nightmare.

Yep, no way is that bumper acceptable. I've been relaying this to information to LFD so this is not an issue from theirs. For top dollar I want bolt on, no Prado problems.

If you look at the profile shots of the LFD the spindle sets aft much more than the Dobinsons.

I like the features of the LFD, it's the odd bend at the bottom that throws me off and the old school flat rear look isn't winning me over either. That said, the rest of the bumper is perfect.

The third row is out! The Goose Gear plate is still a few weeks out but I wanted to get a jump on the install and have time to properly do the sound dampening material prior to installing the plate. The factory rubber mat and my seat/cargo cover do a good job of covering it all up for the time being. If you're going to be cruising around like this for a few weeks like myself, be sure to reinstall the bolts and plastic push pins in order to seal off the cargo area.

Any suggestions on which material to use for insulating and sound dampening and how much to use and where to buy would be much appreciated.
