I've been reading up on the infamous actuator seal leak on early GX when I noticed gear oil on my floor tonight, but when I went to go see mine it looks like its dripping from the seal on the rear shaft flange, is this a thing? how can I get at that seal?

2008 123k miles.
p.s. does anyone have a line on the FSM like the birfmark copy for the 80 series?

Yeah, thinking its the seal on the output flange not the actuator.

Thinking out loud the number one reason for output flanges leak is out of balance or bent drive, any vibs?

Nope. I mean on the 80...yeah and Im about at my wits end there but...not on the GX. Smooth as silk aside from a tiny bit of shunto from the slip joint.

You have to pull the DS and the yolk. Not sure you can do that in place or not...

Looks like you got lucky. Set nut on the output shaft, remove yolk, should get access to outer seal.

Would probably want the inner and outer oil seal on either side of the flange.

Ah hell yeah. Thanks! Looks pretty straight forward, I wonder if there is a need to use a puller to get the flange off?

Probably going to be on there pretty good with a seal on the back, a seal on the front, and a stake nut. I would think a puller would be a good thing to have on standby.

I have the same leak, glad to know it looks like a fairly easy fix. One question though, I assume you want to keep the flange with the same orientation?

Shouldn't matter in terms of lining up with the driveshaft, i mean, the center diff is there so the front flange and rear flange can get out of alignment. Unless you mean that there is a keyed path on the shaft, I can't tell from the pic.

Let's see if this works.
