I'd done a drain and fill in my 07 V8 4wd 4runner and I go for a drive and under medium acceleration through first second and third there is some sort of noise that I can only describe as similar to a heat shield rattle (and a wine from behind the motor at idle, sometimes more prominent sometimes not there at all). under 45-65 percent throttle it starts at the beginning of the gear and continues about halfway through the gear consistently through first to third. took the car home and put an extra bottle of fluid in it and set the level with the fill check plug. This is the second drain and fill I've done with this transmission but the first drain and fill with filter. Id done this because after a long weekend of heavy long distance towing, gears were sticking, shifts were hesitating and often times it would refuse to kick into overdrive even after being clearly driven enough to be up to op temp (I had verified that vehicle was in drive not 4 and I tried switching between 4 and D). I believe I might have underfilled the trans at first but there was NO slippage at all during that first drive before adding more fluid and checking it with the specified method with the check plug. if the transmission is cooked I wouldn't be surprised, no ones fault but mine although the car has almost 300k on it and the trans was acting particularly goofy. car is absolutely pristine rust and paint wise and the interior is 95% mint so there's no question that ill replace the transmission if that's what it must come to.
