tailgate handle

ever since i got the 76, opening the tailgate took a bit of a "pop". i adjusted the rods and figured i'd look into it someday.

someday was today. apparently somewhere in its past life, someone else had problems getting it open too

gonna pull the one out of the spare tailgate tomorrow hopefully...in the meantime, i'm finally getting ready to install the beautiful new windshield channel rubber (thanks ) and my channel is soaking in naval jelly.

anybody found a good way to fix this? i hate to throw it away.

I've seen a couple like that broken in the exact same place. I'm pretty sure you can still get them from Toyota.

Mine does the same thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I tried messing with the rods and the latches, but that didn't help. I never looked at the handle though...hmmm
