I will be bringing this over to my friends place to upload on his CNC machine

it will be a 1 time deal, if anyone would like any cut out let me know

I will not be bending, cutting, shaping or welding any of them, they will be sent out in the 2 dimensional shape you see:beer:

Not sure if your cutting the hole for the light or not but the trailer light socket is the over all same size. So besides just tail lights these could also be used for that. The socket itself is the same as the military socket and not to hard to find so even the early 40 could use this.

redline will be making some this winter too. he's copying annies brackets.

I might as well get a couple since I have a couple extra military trailer plugs. I do have a question if you are unable to cut the hole for the larger plug would be better to just leave those solid?

Not really Johnny. I took a look at the early rear crossmember I mocked up. Besides the narrower round over flange the is the same not wider at the end like this it necks down at the end and bolts to the back of the frame. Material is also much heavier on these.

No FJ25 tail lights which mount to the bottom of the tub not the frame.
it was hard to see which type in that drawing. I say you do a run of early 40 brackets at the same time. ;)

but the socket is the same as the 25 taillight, not the 40 taillight, correct?

Yes it bolts to bottom of the crossmember. Just double checked the two. Roughly both are 4 1/2 by 4 1/2. Same bracket different hole . Trailer socket being larger.

I found these while looking for something else. Pictures comparing the FJ25 tail light brackets to the early FJ40 tail light brackets.

Sean, pardon the crudimentary drawing.

Leave off the top section because it would just need to be cut off and wasted. Provide a rectangular section of the dimension shown. That way the two side ears can be bent up and the mounting tab bent up. corners welded and the rectangular section welded along the radius. I can measure the pattern for the trailer socket if you want.

once the piece was cut out I planned on making 2 cuts on opposing sides, pre the arch and then incorporating a series of kerf cuts to be welded up. but perhaps one solid piece like you've illustrated on the bottom would be easier

I'll have to think about it, it's 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other:hmm:

I've done the whole outside edge as a single piece and welded it to the face, easy. Plus the weld gives some material to work with to shape the outside. Kerfs would be....frustrating. :)

I have one I can measure. It's just sitting on the crossmember I mocked up. The plug was removed to straighten the top that was bend.No rusted bolts to deal with.

I am already figuring a way to form it as one piece. I think I would make a real mess trying cut it then roll and weld back on.
