If you look across Smittybilt's product line they offer a lot of products that look like more expensive/popular brands but cost less. I have no direct experience with their seats, but the other products of theirs I have used (Hi-Lift jack copy, tire deflators) fell short of my expectations. I would expect the same from their seats.

I have Corbeau Baja RS in my rockcrawler and MasterCraft Baja RS (both recliners) in my 4Runner and the materials are much better in the MasterCrafts. Originally the ride and fit between the two was comparable but the MasterCrafts have withstood the test of time much better.

In a vehicle like a 40 I would get a fixed back MasterCraft or Beard, mount them to the cage, and never look back.

Harry,
I'm curious as to why you'd opt for a fixed back vs. the RS??
The fixes are much less expensive, but I do like some adjustability.
I may have to re build my whole seat cradle though w/ whatever I go with as most of the susp seats seem to be pretty wide. LAST thing I want is to lose my beloved arm rest.

Love my Corbeau XRS seats.

I guess that I don't see the value in being able to lean the seat forward or back in a 40. You aren't going the lean the seat back and sleep in it, and you don't need to lean the seat forward to get to the rear. If I owned your 40 (and many times I have dreamed that I do) I would run a set of MasterCraft Nomad seats and Chassis Unlimited sliders (http://www.chassisunlimited.com/billet-aluminum-seat-loc-polished-raw.html). You should still be able to fit your Tuffy console between them, they are only 22 inches wide.

Back from the dead. Anyone care to add thoughts?

After a good amount of sitting, I went with four (4) MasterCraft Rubicon seats for my 80. The more "race" versions of the seats were a headache to get in and out of especially given how much that happens on the trail. I found that these seats have plenty of suspension, are very comfortable, great support, and VERY lite (19lbs each). considering the removal of the front and rear seats and the addition of these I would say that I've shaved about 120lbs off the truck.

Our PRPs have been used and abused and are still super comfortable with no tears. We chose them because they are steel and American made. These pictures show leaves and dirt but the seats are in perfect condition.

Is that your standard mount for the over the shoulder harness pieces? Or are they just mounted there temporarily?

Yes, it's connected to roll bar. The only other choice was to install a cross bar behind the seats (shoulder high) but when we fitted that cross bar, it became dangerous and in the way for rear seat/ passengers.

OUCH.

Definitely want to avoid that..... Seats sound cheaper than fusion.

I have smitybuilt seats (however you spell that).... paid $450 delivered for the pair. I really like them except they're a bit tight with my nearly 38" waist.... that and I should have bought black instead of grey... I'm still planning on warmer and a molle cover - so when it's all done, I'll move my seat position up enough to make them perfect.

And with that said - I'd rather a too tight seat then not tight enough - I've been bruised by not-tight-enough when racing.... but be warned :)

ordered a set of PRP seats on the black Friday weekend. Should be at the door in 3 weeks or so.

Went with high back PRP Premium seats made with Mud Package, which gives it the woven bottom to drain water. Removable bottom seats are only available on the PRO line, and those are deeper bottoms, (taller dimension) and have the higher sides on them. In my 80 series, this would put your head in the clouds and make it really hard to get in and out. Would have preferred the removable cushion; however, could not take the negatives.

You'll be happy with the PRP seats. They are very high quality. Other options will wear out too quickly.
