I've only gone up the ridge and over to Pozo once. Anyone going this year? If there's interest I'll probably leave my tow rig in Atascadero...

What does that involve? How much time would it add to our trip back home?

Some hours, but well worth it. You get to Lopez Lake, about 25 min from Pismo and take High Mtn Rd (dirt) to the top of Garcia Ridge, do some wheeling on Garcia Ridge on the east side, or check out the view from the top on the west side, or both, then descend High Mtn Lookout Rd (Forest Rt 30505) down the north side to the Pozo Saloon for lunch, etc. From Pozo it's half an hour back to the freeway at the top of Cuesta Grade.

 We've just arrived in SLO for the SNT and have a trailer arriving on Thursday. Look for us at the Quality Inn with a trailer with the silver snow truck loaded in the area until then.

- Parking and lounging for Cruiser, wife and baby (11 months) and toddler (4 years). I am not bringing a trailer, and will more than likely be staying at the sister-in-law's house, so tent space will not be required.

Wow, how plans change...

I will now be bringing five kids (possibly six) and will have to set up two tents.

LOL

Your kids bringing their friends?

Yes. We will also be bringing the Camry (not the one in my avatar, unfortunately), which should be parked at the sister-in-law's house.

It is rumored within my house that we will all be sporting shirts that will be labeled, 'spdwaver1', 'spdwaver2', 'spdwaver3', and so on. Haven't decided if I am going to follow Eric's request to label ourselves in such a way, but Kathleen (wife) likes the idea.

Maybe I should make shirts for me and my boy....

Awesome!

Todd, welcome to Cali from the Great White North.

I'm moving onto the beach Wednesday morning with Luv2Camp staging a few trailers around noon.

I'll be watching for one of these:
Horsepower, independent suspension, flotation....hmmm might be good in the sand dunes.

Great trip it anyone hasn't done it.

Along the way the Garcia ridge trail has become more challenging. Last time I was there I was denied!

Katherine and I were taking a scenic drive in the little FJ40, without a second rig, without airing down and without any gear or tools. I made a couple semi-serious attempts, locked front and rear, with tires lifting in the air enough to think I could flop. No dice. I backed off and went to Pozo and had a beer.

This wasn't one of the challenge bypasses and normally isn't one of the tough spots. It will be interesting to see what it looks like now.
