I know this question it a little out of the ordinary, but would anyone know of a place that rents 4x4 in the greater San Luis Obispo area? Last year I rented from Toyota down by LA and drove up to the Surf n Turf. This year I am flying to the Regional Airport and I was just going to rent SUV from there and now they are telling me that they can’t guarantee a 4x4, so I tried to rent a H3 (their version of a “specialty car”), unfortunately no Land Cruisers. Yes, you can poke fun at me but the Toyota dealership in the area doesn’t rent SUV. I just though I would ask if anyone knows of a place in the area other than the sand rails at $150/hr. Thanks, and remember I am from Chicago and 4x4 are very common to rent because of the snow. I am very excited and if I have to push a 2wd trailblazer into the area I will. Why do they even make 2wd SUV? Isn’t that just a station wagon? :D

Scott, if I was you I would rent ANY 4x4 you can get your hands on and slap a LC sticker on it or better yet a 40 bezel sethzilla style and be SURE to get insurance on it, so that you can make that sucker fly. Be sure it has secure tow points in the front and rear and you are GOOD TO GO.

AIR IT DOWN AND GO TO TOWN. we'll give a loving tug if need be.

get something in writing w/ the insurance and rally the s*** out of it. even if you have to call them to tow it back to the lot, you're covered with the insurance.

Read the fine print VERY carefully ... most rental companies say insurance not valid for off-roading.

Unfortunately ... I know this for a fact.

For anyone interested in renting an FJ Cruiser. This is the site for Nolan I was thinking about:

http://www.bhrentacar.com/

No affiliaiton, never used them, don't know their rates, nothing. They do refer to the FJ Cruiser on the site.
