Hey all,

I've been looking around trying to figure out how, exactly, the horns mounted on a 1975 FJ40. It looks like there is generally a mount on one side of the radiator channel - but isn't there a high AND a low tone horn? Where does the second horn mount? In several pictures I've seen, it appears that there is only a mount on one side of the radiator. My truck seems to follow suit - one bracket on one side of the radiator, but horn spade connections on both driver/passenger sides of the headlight harness. Am I just missing a bracket?

It also looks like the mounted to the apron on some earlier models.

Sorry, stupid question, I know, but my truck didn't come with one installed. I found a Ford horn in the box of misc. parts from the PO and mounted it to the inner fender, but would like to get it closer to correct.

Not sure it helps but my 6-72 has two horns. One mounted on each side of the radiator support

Yea, there's one mount on either side of the radiator.

The one on the driver's side is mounted below the support rod:

July 74, had horn brackets on both sides of the rad channel.

@Fast Eddy - Yeah, on mine, there appears to be one bracket, mounted below the radiator support on the driver's side of the radiator channel, like the one you pictured above. Looks like the bracket on the other side is long gone...or maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough since I thought it would be mounted higher...I'll check again...It may have been cut off to make way for a different radiator support by the PO, too.

I've also seen one mounted from a bracket high on the passenger side of the channel. In no circumstance can I find a set of pictures of the same truck showing both. My truck definitely does NOT have the higher-up bracket on the passenger side.

It looks like around 1971 and earlier they were elephant horns mounted to the front inside corner of the apron.

Did the 75's originally have the "disc" horns like that - I thought those came later. Just curious...

I believe it did, originally.

I believe that the disc style started 9/'75 (via SOR).

Thanks! Not sure I have the stock high-mount on the radiator channel on the passenger side. I'll probably just grab disc horns. Mine's a 6/75 and therefore should have the more "trumpet" looking horns, I think...but let's be serious, this thing is so far from stock almost none of this matters! I definitely need 2 horns though - it sounds ridiculous with a single high tone. :hillbilly:
